an excellent article that explores the complexity, negligence, injustice, humanity, atrocity we saw over a year ago at INAMI
How shifting U.S. policies led to one of the deadliest incidents involving immigrants in Mexico’s history A year ago, 40 men died in a detention center fire in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. An examination by The Texas Tribune and ProPublica shows that it was the foreseeable result of landmark shifts in U.S. border policies.

Save the date! May 4, 2024, we're kicking off the first-ever El Paso's Finest Art Festival at the historic Hacienda, soon to be the new spot for Abara House Nonprofit.
Join us for a day packed with creativity—live painting, storytelling, historic tours, and a community canvas. Check out incredible fine art and handmade goods, join the scavenger hunt, and enjoy some tasty food and drinks.
Have you ever heard the phrase, “change of place plus change of pace equals change in perspective”? Imagine yourself standing on the same ground where Chinese laborers stood in the 1880’s, building a railroad that would become the only snow-free transcontinental route in the United States that facilitated trade, passengers and material goods….
The same ground that Border Patrol drives today, a cloud of red-brown dust in their wake…..
It’s an invitation to a pilgrimage; a long walk toward a place that will prove worthy of the journey; a place where shared transformation can fuel collective action. It’s a crazy idea, but it’s one we are walking toward with commitment and anticipation…..
