El Paso Panhellenic is sad to report the unexpected passing of Chellie Hoover. She was a Texas Tech Kappa Alpha Theta and we hope you will consider the following….

On Monday, October 9, 2023, the El Paso community suffered a devastating loss when our beloved Chellie Stevens Hoover passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. Losing her is an inconsolable tragedy that is tormenting her Junior League sisters, her professional associates, her religious family, her sorority sisters, her lifelong friends, her acquaintances, her neighbors, her clients and especially her family. So many others are feeling this shocking and heartbreaking bereavement; those we know of and hundreds more we are unaware of. For us who were fortunate to have been in Chellie’s world, we understand the remarkable effect she had on people. Chellie never met a stranger; she was an immediate friend to everyone and captured you with her warm heart and her caring nature. Losing Chellie is incomprehensible, and the hurt will linger for a lifetime, but we should reconcile our sadness by focusing on the enduring legacy she left behind.
As a part of our building renovation fundraising efforts, we have launched the Chellie Stevens Hoover Christmas Fair Workshop donation campaign and hope that with your help, we can raise the $50,000.00 necessary to name that room in her memory. Chellie LOVED Christmas Fair; she served as Fair Chair in 2004 and spent every one of her 34 years as a Junior League member involved in Christmas Fair in some capacity. There is no finer way to memorialize Chellie than to bring her essence into that room in perpetuity, for every Junior League member to appreciate and to be inspired by.
Please consider contributing to the Chellie Stevens Hoover Christmas Fair Workshop in any way! No amount is too small because together we can reach our goal.
