El Paso Giving Day (EPGD) is an annual fundraising event that supports nonprofits in the El Paso, Texas, region. This initiative brings together donors, volunteers, and the community to help raise funds for local organizations. One of the unique features of El Paso Giving Day is the opportunity for Early Giving, a period that allows donors to make contributions before the official Giving Day event.
What is Early Giving?
Early Giving refers to a pre-event period during which individuals can donate to participating nonprofits in advance of the main El Paso Giving Day. This window typically opens a week before the official event and provides donors with flexibility in contributing, even if they cannot participate on the main day.
Flexibility for Donors: Early Giving allows those who may be busy on the official El Paso Giving Day to still participate and support their favorite causes. They can donate at a time that’s convenient for them without missing out on the excitement.
Engagement and Awareness: The Early Giving period also raises awareness about the participating nonprofits, allowing them to connect with a broader audience ahead of the main event. Nonprofits can use this time to promote their missions, share their stories, and encourage support.
Online Donations: Donations are made through the official El Paso Giving Day website..

"SUCH GREAT NEWS FOR NON-PROFITS COMBATING FOOD WASTE"
California has become the first state to ban "sell by" and "best before" labels on food products, aiming to reduce food waste. This legislation addresses the confusion these labels create, which often leads consumers to discard perfectly good food. By removing these labels, the state hopes to promote a better understanding of food safety and quality, ultimately encouraging more sustainable consumption practices. This move aligns with broader efforts to combat food waste and its environmental impact.

A big change is coming to all California grocery stores California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed into law AB 660, which will create consistency among packaged food labels regarding peak quality.
No Lost Food's 4th Annual Membership Drive is a significant initiative aimed at expanding its community of supporters and increasing its impact in the fight against food waste. Their membership drive is a call to action for individuals, businesses, and organizations to participate actively in this cause.
The annual membership drive typically includes several key components:
1. Community Engagement:
The drive focuses on raising awareness about the organization’s mission and how food waste contributes to environmental, social, and economic issues.
Members of the community are encouraged to join the organization’s efforts by becoming annual members. This can involve both financial support and hands-on volunteering.
2. Fundraising Goals:
The membership drive is often tied to specific fundraising goals, which are essential for the organization to continue rescuing food, maintaining operations, and expanding outreach.
Funds raised through memberships help support the logistics of food collection, storage, and distribution.
3. Volunteering and Advocacy:
Members are encouraged to donate and volunteer their time in food collection, sorting, or delivery efforts. They may also be asked to advocate for policies that reduce food waste or support food distribution programs.
4. Impact metrics:
The organization often highlights the impact of previous membership drives, such as how much food was rescued, how many meals were provided, and how many families were supported. This inspires new and returning members to see the difference their contributions can make.
No Lost Food’s 4th Annual Membership Drive is an essential part of its strategy to create a larger, more sustainable impact on food waste reduction. By growing its membership base, the organization can continue to rescue surplus food and ensure that it reaches those who need it most.
