Elk Grove Unified recognizes the month of June as LGBTQ+ Pride Month. EGUSD celebrates the accomplishments of Le***an, Gay, Bis*xual, Transgender, and Q***r (LGBTQ+) people and works to create a respectful, caring, and inclusive culture for all within the school district community. LGBTQ+ Pride Month honors the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan and celebrates the many contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals, respecting the talent, creativity, and positive impact on our communities. Pride month is also an opportunity to peacefully protest and raise awareness of current issues facing the community, including the stigmas LGBTQ+ people face for simply being who they are. By recognizing Pride Month, EGUSD supports policies, practices, and curricula that honor and respect LGBTQ+ students, staff, and their families and ensures that our schools are safe and affirming spaces for all members of the community.

HCC’s MAKE by GATE group took a field trip to San Francisco’s Exploratorium on Tuesday. These students have been busy working all year designing, selling and creating products for our students. They earned enough money to cover this field trip. They had an amazing time. We are so proud of them. Great job MAKE by GATE! Science 🧬🧪🚌 🌉

The Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) is partnering with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office to provide Active Shooter Training for officers and district leadership. This scenario-based training will take place at Franklin High School and Toby Johnson Middle School on July 26 and July 27 from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. EGUSD staff members have also been recruited to act as role players during the training exercises.

Please be advised that you or neighbors passing by Franklin High School and Toby Johnson Middle School on Wednesday, July 26 and Thursday, July 27 may notice a large number of law enforcement vehicles on the school campuses and may hear the sounds of sirens and mock gunfire at various times.

Both the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office (916) 874-5115 and EGUSD (916) 686-7786 dispatch centers will field calls that may come in regarding the training.
