The town of Franklin has played an important role in the lives of families in southern Sacramento County ever since its beginning in 1856. post comments).

The Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) is partnering with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office to provide Active Shooter Training for officers and district leadership. This scenario-based training will take place at Franklin High School and Toby Johnson Middle School on July 26 and July 27 from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. EGUSD staff members have also been recruited to act as role players during the training exercises.

Please be advised that you or neighbors passing by Franklin High School and Toby Johnson Middle School on Wednesday, July 26 and Thursday, July 27 may notice a large number of law enforcement vehicles on the school campuses and may hear the sounds of sirens and mock gunfire at various times.

Both the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office (916) 874-5115 and EGUSD (916) 686-7786 dispatch centers will field calls that may come in regarding the training.

ELK GROVE, Calif. – May 26, 2022 – Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) student, Isa (Isabella) Paragas, was selected to represent the Northern California region at The Jimmy Awards®/The National High School Musical Theatre Awards® (NHSMTA®). The first student from Franklin High School to win this honor, Paragas was selected from over 23 productions and 22 individual auditions for her role as Katherine in Freaky Friday. The award impacts more than 140,000 students who participate in 46 regional high school musical theatre competitions sponsored by presenters of touring Broadway productions across the nation. Elk Grove Unified recognizes High School Voter Education Weeks (April 18-29, 2022). CA first began allowing 16 and 17 years olds to pre-register to vote in the fall of 2016. Since then, 500,000+ teenagers have pre-registered to vote, and in the 2020 General Election, the youth eligible turnout rate was over 47 percent, the highest turnout rate California’s youth have seen in an election. Research shows that pre-registration increases the probability that young voters will participate in elections.

EGUSD encourages all schools to participate in programs and activities that help get eligible students registered to vote, while encouraging others to become informed and passionate citizens committed to being active voters once they reach voting age.

Online pre-registration is now available for eligible 16 and 17 year olds at RegisterToVote.ca.gov.
