Stone Lake Families,

We need your help spreading the word to past Stone Lake students.

We want to celebrate students and the colleges that they have attended or currently attend. As most of you know, we have a college decoration in our office of college t-shirts and sweatshirts that hang on the wall. We want to UPDATE THIS!!

We want students to drop off or send SIGNED/AUTOGRAPHED (e.g., Stone Lake Promoting Class of 2007, etc.) t-shirts, sweatshirts, or pennants of THEIR college. As we receive these, we will start updating our office walls.

So please spread the word and help us fill our office walls celebrating former Stone Lake students!!

The following message was sent via email to all Stone Lake families:

Stone Lake Families,

California Senate Bill 328, which requires the school day for middle schools and high schools across the state to begin no earlier than 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. This law goes into effect in July 1, 2022. These new mandated start times for secondary school have a significant impact on our district’s bus routing and scheduling. Due to the overall impacts of the mandates, changes to many elementary bell schedules were also unavoidable.

As a result of the SB 328, it mandates that Stone Lake Elementary School schedules for the 2022-23 school year will be:

· Grades 1-6: 8:30 A.M.-3:00 P.M.

· AM Kindergarten: 8:20 A.M.-11:51 A.M.

· PM Kinder and PM Transitional Kindergarten: 11:29 A.M.- 3:00 P.M.

This will take a little time to get used to, but hopefully we’ll have some Hawks that are more awake in the morning. 😊

Thanks,

Mark Beard, Principal

Elk Grove Unified proudly recognizes Wednesday, November 17 as “Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day.” Ruby Bridges is an American activist who walked to school nearly every day and became a symbol of the civil rights movement at age six when she was the youngest of a group of African American students designated to integrate schools in the American South. Ruby Bridges stood for equality and desegregation in the early 1960s, and the Ruby Bridges Foundation promotes “the values of tolerance, respect, and appreciation of all differences.”

EGUSD believes in engaging student voices in partnering for an education environment that emphasizes inclusion, diversity, validation and equity. In honor of Ruby Bridges Day, we encourage you to tag in your photos/videos along with to show us how your school celebrates the values Ruby Bridges stands for.

School psychologists help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. They collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community for all students. EGUSD celebrates our school psychologists for the vital role they play in the personal and academic development of all students.

Elk Grove Unified School District proudly recognizes Sikh American Awareness and Appreciation Month (Nov. 1 – 30). Sikh Americans have resided in California for more than a century, with the first Sikh immigrants having labored on railroad construction projects, in lumber mills, and in the agricultural heartlands of the Sacramento, San Joaquin and Imperial valleys. Our EGUSD family acknowledges and celebrates the Sikh and Punjabi American communities who continue to make important contributions to our state and nation.

To learn how to make classrooms a more safe and inclusive space for Sikhs, please visit the Sikh Coalition website: https://www.sikhcoalition.org/get-involved/
