COVID19 update:
Defining Features is back and business and going strong. Every precaution is being taken to provide a sterile and safe environment for our valued clients. We are requiring masks and implementing social distancing in the waiting area. Clients may, but are not required to, wear masks throughout procedures if they want additional protection. My mask is on 100% of your appointment, from when you enter the building until you leave. Additional sterilization is being implemented in public spaces and as ALWAYS my procedure room is thoroughly cleaned and sterilized between each and every client.

Due to the COVID-19 virus and the shut-down of non-essential businesses, I will be closed until May 1st or until further notice.
The very close proximity which I perform a permanent makeup procedures (literally within inches of your face) is not within the safe guidelines for social distancing which puts my clients and myself at risk of contracting or spreading the virus.

I am still available to answer questions via text or email during this time, however, I am NOT making exceptions for scheduling procedures during the shut-down. Make good choices at this difficult time.

Eyeliner and eyebrows immediately after procedure, before healing.

When shopping for a permanent make-up artist please don't shop for the lowest prices! It is always good to look for the best value, however, there are some really important things to look for first. If the price is lower than the going rate there is likely a reason.

If a consultation is free, schedule one, it can be very informative.

Ask questions:

Is he or she certified, licensed and insured?

How much experience does the technician have?
Training in Florida is very short and limited, certification does not require much experience.

Is the technician licensed as a tattoo artist?
Certification is NOT the same as being licensed in the state of Florida. A cosmetology license is not sufficient for permanent make-up. Permanent make-up is tattooing, blood is involved, it is not like having your hair or nails done. The artist must be trained and certified in bio-hazardous waste control and inspected by the State of Florida Health Department. This is very important for your safety.

Is the technician working out of a licensed tattoo facility? This does not mean a “tattoo parlor” but the facility must be inspected by the same entity of the health department as tattooing, again for your safety. There must be a separate state license for the facility in addition to the artist license.

Is the technician an artist? Look at pictures of her or his work. It is a tattoo that you will wear on your face for a very long time.

If you are satisfied that you are working with an experienced and competent artist, that is legitimately licensed by the state, now it is time to consider price.

For your safety and satisfaction please do not shop for price alone!
