If you don't want to be silenced, exercise your right to speak to your local school board!

are NOT the problem! Parents rights are key and inherent, and any school that looks at parents as the problem has that relationship all wrong. This efforts is atrocious and as a father and a school superintendent, I am appalled.

"The letter, from the nonprofit organization America First Legal (AFL) to the United States Inspector General, claims, 'In light of the Attorney General’s Memorandum of October 4, 2021, it appears the Department of Justice is committing the full weight of its federal law enforcement resources to prevent parents from exercising constitutionally-protected rights and privileges, for inappropriate partisan purposes.'

The AFL says it’s an inside job by 'key Biden Administration stakeholders, including the National Education Association, the American Federation of Teachers, and others, have combined to oppress, threaten, and intimidate parents to chill and prevent them from exercising the rights or privileges secured by the Constitution. To date these efforts, though extensive, have generally proven ineffectual.'

And it wasn’t just any insiders. AFL believes high-ranking officials in the Biden White House staff and the Department of Justice (DOJ) have been meeting since early September to collude not only in the writing of Attorney General Garland’s memorandum but to 'develop a plan to use a letter from an outside group as pretext for federal action to chill, deter, and discourage parents from exercising their constitutional rights and privileges.'" https://bit.ly/2YBQtHQ

"Gov. DeSantis’ press secretary Christina Pushaw released the results from weeks of data that showed schools that obeyed the Florida law and allowed children to attend school without masks on saw no statistically significant difference in outcomes compared to the rogue school districts that imposed mask mandates in defiance of state law." I don't know anything more than what's in the post here but concerning that our schools aren't paying closer attention to the fragile mental states inflicted upon our youth by society (including a failed pandemic response from those in charge, increased screen time, etc.)

This is insanity. For far too long school boards have been marching towards indoctrination. The BLM/social justice takeover of America last summer pulled back the curtain.

To think we were hoping for mask optional education just a month or 2 ago...it does feel like the deck's stacked sometimes. One option that has picked up steam involves parallel learning environments outside the public system. Other efforts are ongoing to move funding to these structures from the public system as the kids move.

I'm continuing to encourage 4J to follow the science regarding kids and infections and hope more of you will join me again. The last meeting only had 4 Public Comments of the 10 allowed, we can utilize this system better.

This afternoon, on a call with Governor Kate Brown, OHA Director Pat Allen and Dr. Tom Jeanne I asked for the *specific, statistical criteria that’s being used to keep the State of Emergency in effect and at what point the Emergency would be rescinded.

The answer came in the form of comments about hospital workforce shortages, (which I might point out aren’t about to get any better after the October 18th vax mandate goes into effect) and infection rates, but nothing about what they’re basing continuing the State of Emergency on:
No answer about a data point or a set of criteria for when the State of Emergency would lifted.

( Still waiting for answers to questions submitted in April and two weeks ago regarding hospital capacity and vaccine breakthrough.)

Considering that the OHA won’t release testing data (PCR info) despite numerous public records requests from myself and Oregon Sen. Dennis Linthicum, how can we determine the accuracy of those tests?

Now we know that half of those hospitalized with COVID-19 have mild or asymptomatic cases (Harvard Medical School, Tufts Medical Center study), and have been hospitalized because of other underlying conditions.

Today, Governor Brown told County Chairs:

“ The only pathway out of the pandemic is vaccination….to avoid “ more draconian measures”.

“ There are two choices; a vaccinated workforce or an unvaccinated workforce depleted by illness”

“ Talk to the vaccine hesitant…if you care about children…care about the future”

“ Business restrictions will stay on the table”

“ We need to double down on our efforts” and get children under 12 years old vaccinated.

When asked about natural immunity, Dr. Tom Jeanne said:
“Evidence for natural immunity is not known…but we know the vaccines are totally safe to use and provide better immunity”.
( Apparently, no one at the State is checking the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) or the research about natural immunity.

Regarding the Biden 100 employee vaccine mandate, Governor Brown said “We have to do what they require; but we could choose to go to 50”.

Klamath County has enlisted the help of local media to encourage vaccination through incentives like “a years- worth of gas, free groceries…even a big truck” and asked for more State funding for additional vaccine prizes.

Governor Brown remarked that those efforts were “ very creative, very clever”.

(Meanwhile, the National Institutes of Health has awarded $1.67 million in grants to five institutions including Johns Hopkins, Harvard Medical School and OHSU to explore potential links between COVID-19 vaccination and menstrual changes, since these are among the side effects being reported).

As we look ahead to even more healthcare staff shortages as a result of the vaccine mandate, Governor Brown shared that taxpayers have spent $100 million to bring in 600 health care workers from out of State, and that doesn’t include the tab for the National Guard.

Rural counties are up against the worst of it with fire, ambulance and hospital staff shortages already being felt.

Newberg is attempting to keep all politics out of school via policy. Why do they feel that is necessary right now? Could it be to avoid situations like this where Roseburg appears to have no such policy but will do it anyways"if" the superintendent disagrees with your politics?

CORRECTION: One of the names of the law enforcement officers listed as present during the event, provided to the Beacon by eye witnesses , was incorrect. Officer Taggard (sp), was NOT present. Detective Kevin Taggart is a Detective with the Myrtle Creek Police Department. We have since confirmed with Winston Police Chief Brandon Sarti that Officer Bobby Carpenter and Kevin VanAtta, both school resource officers, were present as was Chief Sarti.

Oregon State Senator Dallas Heard was removed by law enforcement from the campus of Douglas High School early Wednesday morning when preparing to deliver remarks to students there on the governor's mask mandates. Students the Beacon spoke with confirmed they had received the school's permission before inviting Senator Heard to the event. They said they spoke to Principal Anderson and Vice Principal Holveck on September, 8, 9 and a final follow-up Monday the 13th to secure approval and make arrangements. They were told the event would have to be outdoors on the front lawn, not inside the school facility.
They were shocked when Principal Anderson appeared outside and directed school resource officers Kevin VanAtta, and Bobby Carpenter to ask the senator to leave! Carpenter became frustrated, according to the students, when Senator Heard asked for an explanation for the unprecedented act of asking an elected official to leave a public facility. He stormed off and made a phone call, after which he returned to Senator Heard and informed him that Superintendent Kevin Miller said he has to go!
The Beacon called and spoke with Principal Anderson, who confirmed the removal took place. When asked under whose authority or what policy the decision was based upon he refused to comment, stating any questions would have to be answered by Superintendent Miller. When we spoke to Miller and asked who made the decision to remove the senator, Miller replied "That would be me". We then asked what state statute or school policy he relied upon to make that decision, he replied "We don't allow protests on the school's campus." When asking a follow-up about the permission that had already be issued to the students for the event, he said 'I have a busy schedule...and hung up on us.
Senator Heard told the Beacon he was told the only persons allowed on campus are students who are scheduled to be in class. This presumes also that no parents are allowed on campus.

Now it being a state-wide law, disricts could face penalities for defying it. It's unlikely 4J will go against the new rule.

If not, will you be sending your children to one of these options, homeschooling, or another innovative solution? Some ideas posted on the Unmask Our Kids Oregon group:

👉 District Facebook groups are paramount. The decisions are at the school board level. Start a group page or become active in the one already created. Ban together and continually fill the page with email sync dates and district information (emails, meeting dates, agendas, ask questions...). This continually builds and uplifts the community.

👉 Networking to connect with people outside the district in like-minded groups is crucial. It was the like-minded advocacy founded in social media groups that were a tremendous help when decisions were at the state level. These folks helped get kids back IN schools. Large groups, such as this one, are how information easily flows hand-to-hand (state data, studies, follow area districts). So, take time to share in these groups both what has worked and how to improve as well as take away from value others post.

👉 Stay focused. A lot is going on in education regarding the RSSL and curricula. Don’t confuse your advocacy (you’ll lose the audience). Focus on what is on fire then go in focusing on clean up.

👉 Ask for help. Is there an upcoming school board decision? Post on all outlets the issue, your ask, ALL email contacts of those making the decision and due by date.

👉 Share in your social circles on your page, send texts and email. Rally their help, too. Build up awareness and lead by suggesting ways to help.

👉 Be fearless, yet respectful in posts, emails, and actions.

👉 Keep a positive attitude. It is contagious.

People want to help unmask our kids statewide, but we can’t want it more than you do for your district 💜

School Board Meetings 06/03/2021

Joyce Smith-Johnson just threatened that if we see school based spread then students don't get an in person graduation. Minor children are being forced to wear masks and coerced to get an experimental shot by a person in power using coercion to encourage particular actions from their subordinates. This carrot and stick treatment is unacceptable. This appears to be one of the individuals at the District that is preventing our children from having any semblance of a normal year.
