Watch these anonymous surveys on what services the community would like to see at the Q***r Resource Center. These stories come from the community.

You can take the survey here. https://forms.gle/m2FGCDGHbfZReykPA

In case you haven't heard of it, the Q***r Resource Center is a working name for a hub for the LGBTQ+ people of Lane County, a one-stop shop for care and community where q***r people can just be. Our plans focus on collaboration, education, and celebrating our lives and shared history. This center will offer relief and respite to those suffering hardships, connection, and community to those who need it, and create a space for responsive and low-barrier care.

We value Accessibility, Inclusion, and Intersectionality because we know that while the q***r community may stand together at Pride, we are not a monolith. Every person experiences their identity in their own way, so we need to hear your voices!

About this year’s Pride Festival - we received numerous complaints from attendees about two issues: the presence of protesters with large signage and amplified sound inside the festival perimeter and the mistreatment of festival-goers by the Cuthbert-provided parking lot security team. We hear you, and we want to make sure we get a complete picture of how the day went for the community.

If you have video, photos, or a personal account you would like to share about how you were treated by the security team in the parking lot, what you observed regarding the protesters, and/or the response (or lack thereof) from EPD, we would greatly appreciate your help in gathering information.

You can send us a message here or email us at [email protected]. Please know that by sending us this information you are consenting for us to use it in our response to these issues.

Thank you for your help!

We had an amazing day at Pride in the Park this year! Highlights included the overall positive energy of the community, standout performances like B DeVeaux, the activities in the Youth Zone, the significant presence and participation of veterans in our Veterans Village, the introduction of our scholarship recipients on the main stage, the beautiful new Pride flag we dedicated, and enhanced amenities like electric wheelchairs for attendees with mobility issues. We also had the most sponsor, vendor, and exhibitor booths and highest attendance we’ve ever seen!

It’s incredible to see our community come together through adversity. Despite the challenges we faced leading up to the festival and disruption to the event in the afternoon, we had a spectacular day with you all. Thank you for being a part of Pride and making this event so special!

We want to thank all of our sponsors for this year’s festival! This was an incredibly challenging year for the event, and the festival would not have been possible without your generous contributions and steadfast support. We were able to award $15,000 in scholarships to LGBTQ+ students – the most we’ve ever awarded!

Your support also enabled us to arrange shuttles for attendees to park offsite, advertise the available transportation options that we set up to overcome the parking challenges in Alton Baker Park, offer wheelchairs that we could loan out to festival-goers with mobility challenges, and add two additional hours of entertainment on our Community Stage.

In the face of adversity, our sponsors came through to support our community and make this event happen. We are especially grateful to OnPoint Community Credit Union for your many years of contributions to our community as Presenting Sponsor. Thank you all for your support of Pride!

People have asked us if we’re going to step up as a Q***r space now that Eugene has lost its beacon for the LGBTQ community, Spectrum.

The truth is, we could never hope to replace Spectrum, it was singular and beautiful, and burned like a bright flame warding off the darkness to our q***r community.

We also have always championed LGBTQ rights in our space- to the point of standing up to armed protestors as you very well know.

We never set out to be a Q***r bar. We wanted to be a Gothic Fantasy British Pub style dreamland where your disbelief would be suspended and your real world cares lifted, if only for a couple of hours.

We thought, foolishly, that we didn’t need to declare ourself a q***r space. We just were a place where homophobia and transphobia would not be allowed, and OF COURSE q***r people would be safe?? They’re our people, after all. They’re me.

Watching the events that have taken place politically in the last few years in our country, and seeing so many hateful comments about our q***r spaces, we realize we must declare ourselves once and for all a q***r safe space for our community.
We do consider ourselves a q***r bar, in all the fantastic meanings of the word.

The weird, the wonderful, the unaccepted, the downtrodden, the witchy, the wild, and the fringes of our society have always been welcome to gather at our tables, around our fires, and find refuge from the cruelty of the world.

We could never replace Spectrum and we’d never try. And we look forward to what Helen will do in their community to continue to champion Q***r rights. Rest assured they are a powerhouse for good and something special will be their next project.

We also can’t wait for the inevitable moment when someone else steps up and opens another fantastic Q***r space in Eugene.
It will happen, and it will be joyous and beautiful.
Eugene deserves multiple varieties of Gay friendly spaces.

Until then, please know.
We are here, as we ever have been, for almost a decade.
You are safe with us. You are celebrated. You are defended and exalted.

See you soon, friends.

-Emily

Wow -we are blown away! What an incredible day of community. Y’all showed up, and Pride this year was absolutely amazing. We will have a lot more to say in coming days and weeks, so stay tuned. For now, we are basking in the amazing vibes and positive energy OUR community brought to this year’s Festival. Thank you!

That’s a wrap for 2024 and Pride is packed away until next year. We appreciate your patience as our all-volunteer team responds to your inquiries, navigates a response to the challenges that we faced this year, and finds some time to recuperate. For now, gratitude.

Don’t worry you can still arrive in style in one of our many party bus options! There are 6 parking lots you can choose from to park your car and take a bus to Pride.

We are incredibly excited to unveil and dedicate this beautiful New Pride Flag tomorrow at 10:30am on our Main Stage. Hand sewn in sewing circles around the state over the last year, we truly have stitched our community together through adversity after our cutting of the original Gilbert Baker Pride flag was stolen last year. Puerto Rican author and vegan activist Julia Feliz conceived the design, and Hayley Brown designed this version of the Pride flag to focus on transgender and q***r people of color.

Thank you to for donating the fabric for this effort, to .arts.council for hosting many of our sewing circles during ArtWalk to create this stunning, one-of-a-kind piece of community art, theater program for loaning us your theater, and to all of the community members who spent hundreds of hours in this labor of love; especially our incredibly talented and ever intrepid lead volunteer and Sober Circle Coordinator – JD Terrapin.

We are inspired and beyond grateful

We have some incredible entertainment lined up for this year's Festival. From drag to DJs, comedy to poetry, singer/songwriters, dance troupes and more - we are excited to have the most entertainment ever at this year's Pride!

We are especially pleased to be have B DeVeaux on our Main Stage this year - a singer/songwriter, and musician from Oakland who has performed with the likes of Daveed Diggs, Patrice Rushen, Kehlani, and many more. They use their music to voice the issues that the Black community faces and to portray their experience in this world.

There is something for everyone on our stages this year, and we can't wait to hear from all of these incredible artists. Happy Pride!
