Funny request for all my facebook friends - if you are a participant or guardian/parent of a youth performer or jammer or student at the Music Education & Performing Artists Association-MEPAA music and arts center, GrrrlzRock or Kidz Rock or MuseArt programs, can you please comment what school you or your rock star currently attends? Or where attended when you/they were in our programs?

We are working on our biggest grant request to date and never asked these details on our registration or festival forms and want to list as many schools as possible on our application to show the spread of MEPAA's impact in the community.

This grant could be a life saver for our facility and programs and even if we don't get it, I am learning so much on how to apply for government level grants and your support is greatly appreciated.

COMMUNITY WARNING: We have been informed that this person, named "Flickorna" aka "Gabriel James MacIsaac" aka "Gabe MacIsaac" aka "James Smith" has an arrest record for stalking young girls.

He has been attending many family friendly public events for years and gives people the creeps, but never seems to say or do anything openly to get himself kicked out of these events. He acts helpful and expresses that he is a fan of all music events but has always had a suspicious vibe that never seems right.

When I spoke with him and asked if he had children in the program he says he just loves music and being apart of the community. I want to apologize for not acting more aggressively to the "vibes" that were reported. Thinking I needed an action or some kind of proof to remove this person from events was not the right way to handle it and that will NEVER happen again!

But today our suspicions were proven correct and I feel terrible for not being more responsive to these feelings sooner. Now we have documentation and proof that he has been arrested for stalking a young girl for many years and is involved with online grooming websites with horrific details about his crimes.

I found the contact details for the detective in charge of his LAST case and I will be speaking with him in the morning to get more details about why this person is allowed to walk the streets and why he is not on the registered s*x offenders search sites that I checked. Is stalking a 12 year old not a s*x offense??? Well, it should be!

I have been sick all day about this and plan to make it my mission to right this horrible injustice and protect the youth in our community. We will be posting this photo for our staff and volunteers to be on the lookout. If you see this man around children please call the police so we can let him know that we are not going to allow this behavior to persist.

Thank you so much to the woman who made us aware of this after seeing him with children at the Scandinavian Festival and to the parents who immediately contacted me with the details. It takes a village and we will work together to protect our youth!

Some of you have gotten the update that our team is taking a fundraising training due to increased overhead costs.

One consistent piece of feedback we have received is that we have to better inform our supporters what we need.

Many families are stepping up and donating snacks for our jams when we request them and asking grandparents and other family members to donate, which has been so very helpful!

We have found another way to inform our community about our specific needs by using the Amazon Wishlist feature for nonprofits. We’re celebrating Oregon’s Bottle Bill and its legacy of promoting recycling since 1971 with our 2024
Hidden Bottle Hunt, and your nonprofit could score $1,000!

Our fourth annual Hidden Bottle Hunt starts tomorrow, July 3. With warm weather forecasted across the state, the clues will be announced at 8:00 am each morning, instead of 10:00 am as previously planned, to give finders time to explore before the heat of the day.

We’ll be hiding 6 commemorative bottles, whose look is inspired by Oregon Coast sunsets, in different regions across Oregon. Beginning tomorrow, we’ll release a separate clue for each bottle’s location at 8:00 am over a five-day period to help seekers find the bottles.

Each person who finds a bottle gets to keep the bottle and direct a $1,000 donation to the BottleDrop Give nonprofit of their choice – which could be you! Last year, the following nonprofits were selected: ASD Oregon (Camp Odakoda), Hygiene4All, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Oregon, Pendleton Cultural Foundation, Rabbit Advocates, and Tater Tots Pediatric Therapy.

We’ve created a nonprofit social media toolkit to help you spread the word about the Hidden Bottle Hunt to your network of supporters. The toolkit is available as a PDF on our website, and you'll find additional hunt details, as well as a signup form to receive clues, on our Hidden Bottle Hunt webpage.
