Obituary
Matthew Michael Syroney
Born: November 21, 1999
Baptized: February 13, 2000
Died: August 20, 2024
Matthew Michael Syroney (24) peacefully passed away on August 20, 2024 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. He was born on November 21, 1999 in Cleveland, Ohio to Michael and Kari (Kolman) Syroney.
Matthew attended North High School. While at North, Matthew loved to participate in class, create beautiful pottery pieces for his family in ceramics class, and interact with his fellow classmates and the wonderful North staff. Matthew touched the lives of all his teachers, educators, caregivers, and fellow students. His experiences helped future children with special needs to succeed at North. Matthew graduated from North High School in 2017.
Matthew’s adventures took him across the country. From catching a baby shark, to climbing the trails of Gatlinburg, and to braving a blizzard one winter while visiting family in Cleveland. But you would also see Matthew everywhere in Evansville. He was a frequent mall shopper and loved going on walks in parks. But no matter where he went, Matthew was always smiling and making people feel loved. Matthew’s other hobbies included beating everyone who played with him at Yahtzee, listening to jokes, and to Lauren Daigle on his iPad.
Matthew’s contagious smile and infectious laugh brought joy to anyone who ever knew him. Rooms would light up with his presence. Everyday he was on this Earth was truly a gift from God, but his family now knows that he is at peace with Jesus and all the angels in heaven.
Matthew is survived by parents, Michael Syroney and Kari (Kolman) Syroney; brother, Sam Syroney; grandparents, Louis and Mary Jane Syroney; uncles, David (Veronica), John (Debbie), and Mark Syroney (Danielle); and aunts, Jane Trapp and Lynn Syroney; as well as 7 cousins and countless other loved ones and friendships.
Matthew was preceded in death by his grandmother, Beverly Beifuss; and his uncle, Russ Trapp.
