FMFC represented at our first Banana tournament that was held at Yel! in Hopkins, MN this past Friday. Almost 30 fencers from U to A ratings- the turnout is phenomenal as is the competition!
Photos from our first sanctioned Epée tournament (in a long time!) 12 fencers total with a lot of very close bouts, ultimately Tyler took the E.
Our Summer Stabathon ended by Tyler with 🥇, Traci with 🥈, and Josie and Evan 🥉
Tonight's Earn Your E in Foil was well done by everyone! Evan earned his E24!! 🥇Carter got 2nd, and Grace and Liev tied for 3rd. ❤️🤺
And so it starts.
Taking practice shots downtown for an upcoming fencing photoshoot for FMFC fencers!
Last fall, we started with the Damsel in Distress era, playing the game over and over, making it harder and more ridiculous, but then dodgeball entered our lives and we *have* been trying other warm-up games but always going back to dodgeball, again making it harder with more rules. Then we started to focus on plyometrics and as we all got better at jumping and explosiveness, it became one game that never ended because we were all too good. Tonight, we entered our new era of Capture the Flag Dodgeball. This game requires A LOT of strategy and a team that works together!! It was a very intense 30 minutes. These fencers are not only amazing athletes but they are IN the competitive mindset!
FMFC snatched away three medals at Cornhusker State Games in Lincoln, NE today!
16 fencers showed up tonight and our goal was to provoke the flight/fight/freeze response so we can discover how we each respond to it. Once the behaviors are pointed out, we can isolate them and work on the solutions together waaayyyy before the "real" tournament happens. 💪🧠🤺
FMFC boasts two more National medals from Summer Nationals 2024! Traci Sethre placed 6th in Vet 40 Foil and her team placed 3rd in Vet Team Foil. Caecie DeBlaere and Traci Sethre competed in several events, including Senior Team Foil and Epée, Vet Epée, Div 1A Foil, Div 2 Epée, and Div 3 Foil. Caecie did the hardest job- strip coaching Traci, helping her focus her actions and slow them down. Caecie also interned as a USA Fencing photographer- many of her shots were so awesome, they are in official media posts from the event!!
Two of our fencers being interviewed this morning on KVRR!

Summer session is about to start and new dodge balls and a leap frog game just dropped! We're about to have fun and get intense! 🤺🔥
Our final evening of fencing for this session! There *was* fencing but more importantly there were long discussions on whose touch was it and why(foil), refs helping new refs, a lot of chit-chat on the music selection, and not shown here- passionate parents helping out our club in various ways, and our fencers enjoying each others' company and lots of laughing. I mean, this is clearly- Attack. Touch. End of bout. FMFC wins. ❤️🤺
Our foil event from Musketeers Mayhem was fenced with everyone mixed into two pools, then our newest fencers were fencing each other in DE's in Div 3 category and the more experienced fencers placed together in Div 2.
Here are our epéeists and refs from today's Musketeers Mayhem tournament! Tyler took first place, Carter a strong second, Grace and Josie tied for third. Ruby and Edison, crowd favorites, took 5th and 6th. Our refs Tehya and Jason were as impartial as could be yet rarely carded anyone. Keep your eye on the majority of these fencers as they enter the Summer Session with revenge in their hearts. ❤️🤺
Our final Thursday of the session was celebrated with a team event. Scores were fairly close at the end and everyone was fencing hard yet having fun! Tournament this Saturday! https://www.askfred.net/tournaments/9a1c0c54-a5eb-42d3-b3c7-fa8429a923b6
