United Way of Cass-Clay
At United Way we inspire and activate
our community to improve lives.
Passionate, engaged, all-in. Enclave does a great job engaging their team year-round in our work as a LIVE UNITED Partner. From events, volunteering at the School Supply Drive, or grabbing lunch at Hornbacher's, they find tons of great ways to get in involved.
They recently volunteered at our School Supply Drive and had so much fun filling 500 backpacks and making sure kids have the supplies they need this coming school year. More than that, they understand the importance of backpacks and what they provide students - confidence. Thank you, Enclave!
Sandy's Donuts & Coffee Shop created a never-before-seen donut just for United Way - the "Back to School" donut - complete with adorable, colorful (and educational!) letter sprinkles! And the best part is that $5 from every dozen goes back to United Way!
Celebrate back to school by picking up a dozen Sandy's Donuts now through Friday and help local kids.
This year we are celebrating 15 YEARS of the amazing United Way 35 Under 35 Women's Leadership Program. We wanted to take a moment and remember each class. As they truly are worth remembering. Let's continue our trip down memory lane...
Cheers to you, class of 2011! ๐
We hope you loved your 35 experience, class of 2011, and that you can join us at the 15-Year Celebration on Oct. 24!
๐ We have one final distribution event for our School Supply Drive - TODAY - Friday, August 2 from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the FARGODOME. If your family or someone you know is in need of a backpack and school supplies for a K-12 child, please join us!
Special thanks to RDO Truck Centers for making it possible to deliver any remaining backpacks full of supplies, after our final distribution, event to our area school districts. โ๏ธ ๐
As our Transportation Sponsor, RDO Truck Centers makes sure that we can get backpacks into the hands of team members at our local school districts so if a student arrives this fall empty-handed there will be a full backpack of supplies waiting for them to lift their spirits and give them the confidence and tools to succeed.
When we work together, we can do incredible things to help kids in our community! ๐
Cheers to Valerie Meis, Senior Corporate Relations Manager, on celebrating 5 years making a difference on our team!
Here are 3 things Val provides our team, community, and volunteers each day:
โ๏ธJOY: Val has a contagious joy for the mission of United Way. She is positive, happy, kind, thoughtful, and cheerful.
๐คPERSPECTIVE: New ideas, thinking differently, getting creative, and finding efficiencies - Val does all of this with each project, connection, and meeting.
๐LEADERSHIP: The amount of care, time, and attention to detail she puts in to connecting with others is what sets Val apart. She leads by example and wants to create authentic, meaningful relationships with everyone. A genuine leader.
Congrats, Valerie Joy! Happy work-a-versary!๐
The support from the Scheels team is a LIVE UNITED Partner...and oh SO MUCH MORE!! The last two weeks we had over 100 SCHEELS employees use their volunteer hours and โhelping handsโ through the United Way School Supply Drive - from supply inventory, to bundling pencils, leading quality control, and packing backpacks. This crew does it ALL and goes above & beyond for our community! Thank you, SCHEELS team!

One of our favorite things is when we get to sit down with our partners and share our dreams, aspirations, and innovative ideas in supporting families on their pathway to prosperity. And today, we got to do just that!
We sat down with our amazing Community Impact Partners at Jeremiah Program, Fargo-Moorhead, including Laeititia Mizero-Hellerud, their local Executive Director (and also one of our board members!) and Shukurat Adamoh-Faniyan, Chief of Campus Experience from the national Jeremiah Program office.
We're incredibly thankful for our partnership and look forward to continuing to shine a light on our shared vision for the community.

West Acres is such an amazing, community-centric place! We are so thankful for their support as a LIVE UNITED Partner, as well as the other great ways they make our work possible! Their food court offers a place not only to eat, but also to give back! How, you ask?
๐ In February, West Acres hosted our Brewing Up Kindness event where volunteers packed care kits for the Great Plains Food Bank.
๐ If you visit the Food Court this month, you'll see piles of School Supplies as they're serving as a drop off site for the 6,000 backpacks United Way volunteers will pack next week! *Don't forget to drop off your supplies by July 23rd! ๐
We are grateful the West Acres team creates spaces to gather and give back and for their year-round LIVE UNITED Partnership!
"How c**l is that?" If you mean our amazing board members joining our team to spend the day learning, sharing, and leveraging all their shared expertise to further our mission...yes, it is pretty darn cool!! And an afternoon ice cream break too! ๐ฆ
Thank you to our panelists from Boys & Girls Clubs of the Red River Valley, Southeast Education Cooperative, and YMCA of the Northern Sky who shared their expertise around Bold Goal 2 and early childhood education.

๐ Thank you, Microsoft, for being a dedicated LIVE UNITED Partner! Your support and commitment to our community make a huge difference. Winning best costume 2 years in a row at the "United Fore Kids Golf Scramble" shows this team's creativity and embodies what it means to make an impact locally. Here's to continuing our journey together towards a brighter future for Cass and Clay counties!
At United Way of Cass-Clay, we believe everyone deserves access to nutritious food, yet we know that on average nearly 16,000 people in our community, including 6,400 children, experience hunger each year. Thatโs why this morning we hosted 'Nourishing Our Communities: Solutions to End Hunger Impact Panel' with an incredible group of local leaders who are making a difference in our community every day.
Thank you Michelle Draxten Fargo Cass Public Health, Dre Blotsky Sanford Health, Simone Wai Folkways, and Melissa Sobolik Great Plains Food Bank for bringing awareness to the systems in our community that work to ensure everyone has access to nutritious food.
Together we can make a difference in the lives of our neighbors in need!
We are fortunate to live in a community filled with people from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures. We embrace opportunities to listen, share, and learn with our neighbors. Recently we attended the Somali Heritage Celebration in Broadway Square where Mayor Mahoney proclaimed June 28 as Somali Heritage Day in Fargo.
Eshara, Immigrant Development Center, and Folkways, all partners of ours were involved with bringing this community event to life. New Roots Midwest and the NDSU Somali Student Association also co-hosted the event.

Yesterday our team got the opportunity to connect with other community leaders and service providers in creating an aspirational vision for the future of the Downtown Engagement Center. Our goals as a group included ensuring low barrier access, a welcoming environment, and ensuring a Housing First focus.
Thank you to The City of Fargo - Government for hosting this thoughtful conversation.
