As many students prepare to head back to school, some in our community are adjusting not only to a new school year, but a new place to call home after escaping violence and arriving at YWCA Emergency Shelter.

Throughout this week, we've had several families move into the shelter - women and children arriving with just the clothes on their back.

Can you Sponsor-a-Student at YWCA and send children back to school with a new outfit and new confidence? Email Emily at [email protected] if you can help.

We're so thankful for partners like Lutheran Church of the Cross who continue to be committed to serving others and fueling the work of YWCA! In addition to this generous donation, LCC members celebrated with Grace Garden families this week as kids prepare to head back to school with full backpacks and full hearts. 🧡

Thanks be to God for the gift of generosity. LCC fulfilled first-fruits giving by sharing a portion of the windfall proceeds from the cell phone tower lease. A day after we hosted a back-to-school supply event for the Grace Garden families, $6,000 was presented to YWCA Cass Clay, one of our chief partners in the work of living and loving like Jesus! And all God's people said... (Amen with your like)

This week, YWCA will open the doors to 12 freshly renovated units of affordable, supportive housing!

A year ago, YWCA purchased two buildings adjacent to the Emergency Shelter from the Sisters of the Presentation after leasing two six-plexes from the Sisters for many years. YWCA was awarded $3 million from the North Dakota Housing Finance Agency to renovate the two buildings.

The residences have been named Cove Lane in honor of YWCA’s partnership with the Sisters. Cove Lane is where Sisters of the Presentation foundress Nano Nagle ministered to children, widows, and the poor in Cork, Ireland in the 1700s.

The legacy of Nano Nagle and the Sisters will continue as Cove Lane provides safe refuge and new beginnings to families who have experienced violence and homelessness. 🧡
