In 2015, while breastfeeding her daughter, Dom Wynette Jackson noticed what she thought to be clogged milk duct. After nothing she tried seem to help, she made an appointment with her doctor who advised her to immediately get a mammogram. After a series of test and scans, Domonique at the young age of 26 years old was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. The cancer was very aggressive and she took an aggressive approach to fight it. Her treatment consist of; chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, followed by radiation. During her journey, she was a mother of 2 young children who depended on her. Domonique biggest supporters and cheerleaders were her family and close friends. Since her diagnosis, Domonique made it her mission to mentor other young women who were fighting the same battle. Her doctor warned her that it would be hard to conceive children if she underwent various treatment. Even with this knowledge, she decided not to freeze her eggs. However, after the storm, she found peace! Domonique went into remission in February 2016, she had a 3rd child in 2020, and was pregnant during the photoshoot for the calendar. Unfortunately In 2021, Domonique was diagnosed with skin cancer while pregnant with her 4th child. The cancer was stage 4 and was also found in her spine. Domonique underwent several rounds of treatment. Although it has been a rough ride, she is one of the strongest women that I know. She is a wonderful mother to her 4 beautiful children, and she is so full of life. Through it all, she remains positive.

In January 2007, Monica lost her mother to breast cancer, and since then, every year, she kept up with her mammograms. During a visit to her OBGYN, while performing a breast exam, the doctor felt something on the right side. Monica was scheduled for a mammogram. The results showed something there, and she was then scheduled for a biopsy. In January 2022, Monica was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. Her treatment consists of 4 months of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, and a full hysterectomy. With the support of family, friends, and her faith in God, Monica made it through the difficult journey.

October is breast cancer Awareness month, and these beautiful ladies are featured on October in my 2022 Taking Our Lives Back calendar. Most of the ladies were featured in one of my previous calendars so I asked them to be apart of the calendar again as a group. Their fights were similar, and they all kicked breast cancer butt. Each one of them underwent months if not years of treatment that included; chemotherapy, radiation, lumpectomy, mastectomy and many surgeries. They experienced hair loss, sleepness nights, pain, fear, and uncertainty but they all pushed through and fought to live. They're all cancer free and living their lives to the fullest. Today I celebrate you all and I love each of you to the moon and back. 💪🏽❤️❤️❤️👏🏾
