The Emily Stillman Foundation
We are working to raise awareness of meningococcal disease and organ donation while keeping Emily's legacy alive. We advocate Meningococcal vaccinations
Through education, and programming we advocate for all people to be protected with all meningococcal vaccines beginning at two months of age, and to maintain that immunity throughout their life. We will ensure that all people who want to be protected, can be.
In 2019, I had the honor of working in London with the World Health Organization (WHO) to help draft the roadmap for the “Defeat Meningitis by 2030” campaign. Today, I was honored to speak in Paris at the first high-level meeting to defeat meningitis by 2030. In attendance were the most distinguished partners, health ministers, scientists, journalists and advocates from all over the world. The entire world is working together to reach this goal - it will save lives, save money, and personally, for me - I will fulfill the promise I made my Emily Stillman on that cold February morning 11 years 2 months and 23 days ago. Karly Stillman- thank you for being here with me (and for keeping me calm and grounded). It was important to be here and share Emily’s story and the story of Kim (Patti Wukovits). It was crucial to report our work through The Emily Stillman Foundation and our newly rebranded American Society for Meningitis Prevention. We stand with the world ready and committed to DEFEAT MENINGITIS BY 2030.

Do you have a minute today to help us protect the health of adolescents and young adults? All you have to do is share one of our new social graphics as your act of advocacy and that can be as simple as sharing this post to your feed with a note about why preventing is so important.
Some reasons include:
- 70% of all meningococcal meningitis cases among 17-22 year olds are Meningitis B.
- 78.2% of 17-year-olds have NOT received at least one dose of the MenB vaccine as compared to 11.1% having NOT received at least one dose of the MenACWY vaccine.
- More than 80% of parents have not heard of the MenB vaccine.
Check back in with our page throughout the day as we'll be posting each of our new graphics. Can't wait? Additional graphic options can be found on our website: https://meningitisbactionproject.org/edu-graphics.

"While the stress of finals and graduation is significant, the danger of meningococcal disease is much greater. Meningococcal disease affects your future far more than a less-than-desirable grade. Encourage your child to get vaccinated for all forms of meningococcal disease."
Alicia Stillman, of Michigan and Florida, is the director of The Emily Stillman Foundation.
