“I chose the University of Arkansas because of the beautiful campus feel and the amazing design program and new building that helps us have a great education and be set up for a successful future. I love the Greek Theater because I lived right next to it Freshman year and would consistently go out there to relax, read, sketch, and eat lunch with friends. I love how students stop there between classes and just sit and soak up the sun. It’s a natural hub and I also have attended various events there and love the outdoor vibe. Last year, I decided to take a picture of the Greek Theater every season to capture my year, and these pictures are the result. I am so lucky to be in the Graphic Design program and have my own desk and studio with my cohort. It is a thriving part of the University and I love seeing all the creative things people make.”
from Arkansas Alumni scholar, Macey Scott from Houston, Texas. She is studying finance at the Sam M, Walton College of Business.
“I chose the University of Arkansas because of the beautiful campus and abundant opportunities it provides its students. My favorite thing about campus is its unbelievable views, especially during sunset and sunrise. I chose this location because it shows the beauty of University of Arkansas’ campus. It is an every day reminder of the reason I chose to attend the university, which has become the best decision I have made in my life thus far.”

from Arkansas Alumni scholar, Kendall Beach, sophomore advertising and public relations major and minor in marketing from Kansas City, Kansas.
“I chose Arkansas because the first time I stepped foot on campus I felt a sense of home. My dad has been coming to Fayetteville for years for Bikes, Blues, and BBQ and really encouraged me to check out the school. With my dad being so familiar with the city and it being the perfect proximity from home, yet just far enough to feel independent really solidified my choice for me. One of my favorite spots on campus is the Greek theatre! I love to study outside when the weather is nice, and my involvement with the Razorback Booster Club gives me so many amazing experiences to participate in the pep rallies we host there. I truly do love Arkansas and encourage everyone to experience the beauty of this campus!”

Our this week is from the perspective of Arkansas Alumni Scholar, Sydney Babbitt. Sydney is from Austin, TX, and is a Junior here at University of Arkansas. These photos highlight a small portion of why Arkansas feels like home to her.
“I chose Arkansas because the landscape reminded me of the Texas hill country. I loved the community and the Arkansas family. This campus is so easy to love in any season.”
In honor of Valentine’s Day, Arkansas Alumni proudly highlights a special UA tradition, Spoofer’s Stone. Back in the university’s early days, strict rules kept male and female students from mingling. Yet, romance bloomed at this limestone landmark near Old Main. It all started when it fell from a broken ox cart during the construction of Old Main. Students would slip love notes into the crevices of the stone to find a way to communicate whilst on campus. As love letters turned into proposals, chipping off a piece of limestone became a tradition to honor their love stories and engagement. By the early 1930s, due to the chipping by love-struck individuals, Spoofer’s Stone significantly decreased in size. The stone’s legacy was preserved by the classes of 1932 and 1933 setting it in concrete and adding a plaque from collecting pennies from every student. Spoofer’s Stone remains in the same location today resembling the beginning of many Razorback love stories.
Happy Valentine’s Day 💌
