The Development Authority of Monroe County is proud to partner with Oglethorpe Power Company (OPC) in locating a $2 billion combined-cycle state-of-the-art plant in Monroe County. This 1,200 megawatt facility will be among the highest performing, lowest-emitting and most efficient natural gas plants in the state. It will be built on land OPC already owns adjacent to the Smarr Energy Facility.

Yep! It is definitely a Chick-fil-a! The signs have been affixed to the building and the large pylon to hold the sign that can be seen from I-75 is being erected.
The new Chick-fil-A in the City of Forsyth will soon have lights and power!

The Development Authority of Monroe County is proud to partner with Electric Cities of Georgia (ECG) in selling ECG 12 acres in the Indian Springs Business Park. ECG will build a training facility on this property complete with outdoor training courses as well as inside classrooms. I was in and out of the new Driver License facility in less than 5 minutes with my new driver’s license on the way! Come to Forsyth, Monroe County, for excellent service in a brand new, beautiful DDS facility.

Good things can happen when people work together. The Development Authority of Monroe County partnered with the Department of Driver Services to build a new Driver License facility and today we were able to celebrate together the grand opening of this beautiful facility. The new driver’s license facility is located on Industrial Park Road and currently is getting people through the entire process in less than 30 minutes. Thank you to all who came out to help the Development Authority celebrate this beautiful facility today.
Monroe County Day at the State Capitol was a great day for Monroe County. Thank you Senator John Kennedy for your hospitality and thank you Lt. Governor Jones for welcoming our group onto the Senate floor. We also enjoyed Representative Dale Washburn and Representative Clint Crowe joining us for lunch. Thank you to Hugh Sosebee for your arranging all and for a wonderful lunch!

2024 is off to a roaring start! The first week of January, the Development Authority hosted a group of Monroe Co. Educators at 2 local businesses. We visited the Georgia Public State Training Center and Central Georgia EMC. We learned the about the skills and attributes these organizations look for when hiring personnel. These educators can now take what they’ve learned and help students into careers right here in Monroe County! Thank you GPSTC and Central GA EMC for having us.
All the finishing touches are being made on the new drivers license facility. We believe it will be a building Monroe Countians will be proud of.
Pretty Soon this property will not be vacant! The Development Authority of Monroe County is proud to announce we have closed on 9.15 acres at the front of the Indian Springs Business Park. The proud, new, happy owners are United Parcel Service (UPS) who plan to build a 60 car package center at this site that will employ 187 employees with 60 of those jobs full-time. UPS will invest $11.7 million in this facility. Bring it UPS! We are ready to welcome you to Monroe County.

The Monroe County Development Authority attended the Governor’s Workforce Summit. There are a lot of good things happening with the University System, the Technical College System of Georgia and the State School System of Georgia all coming together to ensure success for those seeking rewarding jobs and employers seeking a valuable workforce.
The Development Authority was in the very center of the Middle Georgia Economic Alliance summit held at Georgia Power’s experience center. Middle Georgia counties presented to economic developers at Georgia Power, the State and Electric Cities of Georgia all the opportunities the region has to offer.
Phil Ham and Joyce White of The Development Authority of Monroe County along with Cody Ham, Commission Chairman Greg Tapley, Commissioner Eddie Rowland and his wife Kathy Rowland, met today with Commissioner of Agriculture, Tyler Harper. The purpose of the meeting was to request his support of a new agriculture center being planned for Monroe County. Commissioner Harper is a supporter of growing ag in Monroe.

Quality cottage homes with high end finishes will be manufactured and sold here. The building is taking shape and plans are to open this Fall. You could be in your new cottage home by Christmas!
The Development Authority of Monroe County is excited to announce that they have secured a signed contract to locate a Chick-fil-A restaurant at the corner of Highway 18 and Industrial Park Drive, across from Quick-Trip. The Authority believes CFA’s values and Biblical principals to care for others and serve others fits well with our community. CFA will bring 60 plus jobs and a good revenue stream to the City of Forsyth and Monroe County.
“And he huffed and he puffed and he huffed and he puffed, but he could not blow it down”. The brick is finished and the Development Authority is putting a lot of effort and detail into building a Driver’s License facility that will look nice well into the future.
The Development Authority of Monroe County in a called Board meeting on July 7 approved an offer letter from Electric Cities of Georgia to purchase 12 acres in the Indian Springs Business Park. Approximately 1500 professionals will use this facility each year - - bringing revenue from restaurants and hotel stays while visiting Monroe County for training. The Development Authority looks forward to partnering with the fine professionals at Electric Cities of Georgia.
