Sept. 11, 2001, changed alot more than just New York City - the attacks changed a generation of Americans, our Army and our world. That day's destruction and devastation did not condemn this country to a future filled with fear. No, this loss, as profound as it was, did not break the soul of this nation. It made our nation stronger. That day fortified Americans with pride and patriotism and created a spirit of service in the hearts of a new generation. We now observe Patriot Day annually on September 11th as a National Day of Service and Remembrance for the thousands of lives lost in the 9/11 attacks. In honor of those fallen during 9/11 and in the line of duty after, 5th Armored Brigade soldiers participated in a morning run, donning the American flag as well as the Task Force Hammer flag, symbolizing their condolences to those fallen and affected by the attacks of 9/11.

Headquarters & Headquarters Company, 5th Armored Brigade, hosted Longhorn Day 2.0 in conjunction with the chaplain section, and Dagger Brigade Military & Family Life Counselor, Ms. Hilda Guerra, to enhance resilience and spiritual fitness through a series of small group activities and classes on active listening skills and techniques to be better listeners and Dagger teammates at the Centennial Conference Center at U.S. Army Fort Bliss, Texas Aug. 26.

“Healthy communication helps us build stronger relationships at work and at home,” said Guerra. “Being aware of our and others nonverbal communication can help with breaking barriers to communicating effectively.”
