On Wednesday, August 28th Film Lauderdale attended the Flip The Script event at The Community Foundation of Broward. Hosted by WPBT2 South Florida PBS, this event brought together aspiring student filmmakers tasked with creating stories that spark dialogue and address challenges within their communities.

Four student filmmakers in Broward County were chosen to participate with the ultimate goal of bringing their short film ideas to public television and even premiering at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival. They received guidance and support from successful filmmakers and TV professionals, and had the opportunity to learn about what it takes to create a short film.

Congratulations to Thalia Dorisca, Zoie Mccaa, Briana Grbic, and Valentina Lopez on bringing their short films to the big screen! 🎥🎬🎊

The Film Lauderdale team had such a great time last night at the private screening for 3 short films, two of which were written and directed by local filmmaker, Moon Lee Ferguson, and the 3rd produced by her and written and directed by Lucien Christian Adderley & Richard ‘Byrd’ Wilson!

After the screening was an intimate Q&A with the cast and directors from The Newlyweds: Blood at the Altar.

The films were both touching and hilarious, and even zombie filled 🧟‍♂️ It’s always amazing to see all the work and creativity put into a project, come to life on screen! 🎥

Film Lauderdale is saddened to hear the news of Adam Shuman’s passing.

A Celebration of Life to honor the memory of Adam Shuman takes place at Kapow Noodle Bar in Mizner Park in Boca Raton this Friday, July 26, 2024 at Noon.

As managing partner at Groove Jet nightclub on Miami Beach, and playing significant roles with other major clubs, he crossed paths and became friends with a veritable who’s who of people in professional sports, film, music, and the business world. Following that he moved into the film business in South Florida. Prior to moving to Miami, he was involved with the New England Patriots in his hometown of Boston.

The ownership of Kapow, part of Adam’s expansive list of friends, are kindly allowing their space for hosting this gathering. Though his passing is way too soon, amazing experiences and stories without a doubt will come to light, as his brilliant presence and nature often manifested.
