Summer Reading kickoff this afternoon!
Yesterday the current Lion News Crew held auditions for the 2024-2025 Lion News Crew. Twelve applicants auditioned and five were chosen. All twelve 4th graders did a fantastic job auditioning!
Congratulations to Ayvah, Olivia, Harmony, Bryan, and Adrian!
They started strong by introducing themselves on the announcements this morning.
Big day for the Bluebonnet Book Club!
We started our day at the middle school for the District Book Battle.
One of our teams took 3rd place! 🎉
We ended the day celebrating our hard work and all that we have accomplished.
3rd-5th grade students that read 10 Bluebonnet Books were able to attend the Bluebonnet Bash at the high school. Each station was linked to one of the Bluebonnet Books.
Everyone had a great time exploring the different stations!
Most of our Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade classes made it to the library today to preview the book fair.
We were very fortunate to have 4th and 5th graders available to help the younger students fill out their wish lists. They did an incredible job helping today!
We can’t wait to start our book fair on Monday!

One of our Lion News Crew members interviews 5th graders before the holidays. Two of the A.V. Cato Photography Club members were on hand to record the interviews...and..our very own Ms. Boman edited the video for the final presentation. Enjoy!
Lourdes is taking home a Squishmallow this week for logging minutes on Beanstack! She earned a raffle ticket for getting on the leaderboard… and that ticket was the lucky winner!

Bluebonnet Book Club finished the book, “Invisible” in record time, definitely a group favorite. 🤩
This week we drafted book recommendations using the same format as the book (graphic novel).
Author Chris Barton visited our campus today. He read 2 of his books to Kinder -5th grade classes. He stayed to sign books and eat lunch.
Some of our students had a special lunch today and asked him lots of questions. It was a great day!
Bella is back this Tuesday! Join us in the library at 2:00 p.m.
Mother Goose visited the library today. She read us nursery rhymes and we sang a few songs.
What a great visit!

The photography club spent time photographing pumpkins. They focused on shadows, perspective, and creativity.
The group has had two meeting to explore with the cameras.
This was their first time with a task. I think they did a fantastic job! 📷 🤩
First grade used problem solving skills and teamwork to build a nest that would hold an egg. This was an extension to a story they read in their classrooms this week.
In the library, we read “The Perfect Nest”.
Look at all of the “perfect nests” they created!
We had guest readers from Castleberry High School today! The football players, cheerleaders, and volleyball players greeted students as they arrived. Most stayed to visit classrooms and read a book to the class. ❤️💙❤️💙
We had a special visitor today from the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT). Bella the Begonia taught us about tall grasses and roots. We read a book, sang songs, and even got to dig in the dirt to look for roots.
Thank you Bella for the visit. We can’t wait to see you again next month!
