POV: Prepping for a foundation in this Texas heat. ☀️
In weather like this, we add moisture to the soil in order to meet the engineer’s requirements for compaction, resulting in a stable foundation!
Know your home needs energy improvements, but unsure where to start? An energy audit provides an accurate assessment of your home’s needs and will make recommendations on what can be done to improve its performance. 📈 🏠
With our summers only getting hotter, how should home construction adapt? We chime in with an example of one of our recently certified U.S. Department of Energy Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy zero energy homes.
Is your home ready for the new century? Is your home ready for the new century? A good start to the answer to that question is when your house was built.
We had the opportunity to share a bit about the experience of serving as a juror on behalf of the National Association of Home Builders at the Solar Decathlon. If you want to be inspired, we suggest you follow these students and their projects!

As a 4th generation building company, we are frequently asked: “How long has Ferrier been building?”
It began with CEO/Owner, Don Ferrier’s grandfather in 1881. He immigrated to America from Scotland, and brought with him his years of building experience. He had big dreams and it shows; his first project was helping to build the Texas State Capitol as a stone mason.
With stability and dependability as part of our DNA, Ferrier is your trusted partner in the design/build process.
We are proud of our roots and happy to keep it all going.

Want to build a home, but not impressed with the average American home being built today?
We take a holistic approach to designing and building, which incorporates:
1️⃣ Energy & Water Efficiency
2️⃣ Improved Indoor Air Quality
3️⃣ Increased Comfort
4️⃣ Lasting Durability
5️⃣ Wise Resource Use
6️⃣ Intentional Design
This is just the start to designing and building your custom dream home.
How it ends depends on your goals related to design, budget, and performance.
Share this with your friends and family who are building their dream homes.
Stop what you’re doing and take a step back. Close your eyes. Open them and look across your home. Look outside.
How often do you do this?
Our answer: often.
This is how we get inspiration.
The colors, the clean lines, and the textures that surround us inspire us. When we take a moment to look outside, even now in winter, we remember the vivid colors of nature from soft yellows to luscious reds.
When we work on your projects, this is how we incorporate and protect nature along the way: by stopping for a moment and taking stock of everything that we want to sustain.
Looking back on our projects over the years, we’re reminded of this award-winning, natural beauty.
This Norcross renovation project evolved a family home from a simple ranch-style to an energy-efficient mid-century modern home that entirely embraces and protects nature. This is the type of work we love. We get to consciously consider resources as we blend your needs with top industry standards.
Maybe we win an award along the way, too! This home was rebuilt to the strict requirements of the National Green Building Standard’s Bronze Level and won the NAHB’s Best in Green Remodeling Award. That is not easy to come by, so we are thankful for that recognition.
Contact us when you’re ready to design. We’re here to accompany you on your journey, regardless of award recognition.
Every home tells a story. This Berkeley bathroom remodel is definitely telling us part of hers. 🏠 🩵 🛁

Sometimes it’s the small things that make your home’s personality shine! Grateful for these returning clients who gave us the opportunity to work on phase 3 of their remodel!

Modeling how the sun angles will interplay with a custom home we are just breaking ground on....can you see the difference?
In our hot Texas climate, we are always looking to keep the sun out of the home as much as possible during the summer (reduce cooling loads), while allowing it in during winter months (assist with heating) as part of an integrated passive solar design.
