This was a fun, interesting job.

Wanted to reinforce a splined drive shaft in a jet ski. We had the jet ski on site. Did all the measuring and design in real time.

We did some test cuts out of cardboard, identified issues, made corrections, and then cut the stack of parts out of stainless steel and dry fit everything within an hour or two.

This is not our typical type of job, because our industrial equipment isn’t very efficient for individual pieces. But it was still far less expensive than alternatives for the customer, and we were able to squeeze the cut jobs in between our scheduled work.

Now, I’m not sure that this is going to work or last, but as a prototype, it was an interesting project, and we were able to go from idea to physical parts quickly.

We cut a lot of circles, squares, and geometric, mathematical shapes. It’s fun when we get to do something a little more organic.

This is the cutout, waste piece to a sign we’re making for a customer. The design started out as a hat that we had to shift and manipulate until it looked good at 24 inches.

Our CO2 laser gives us the capability for fast prototyping, templating, and testing before we pull out the expensive materials to cut with the water jets.

As an added bonus, we can also engrave many materials including wood, plastics like acrylic, and - with our fiber laser - metals.
