I just spent and hour + on a zoom interview with Karolyn Grimes (ZuZu Bailey "It's a Wonderful Life) and her husband psychologist Chris Brunell for their new podcast ZuZu All Grown Up! It was a lot of fun and they both had some really great questions. I was blown away near the end when she said "you are a real life George Bailey". I will let you know when it airs.

At age 6, Karolyn Grimes played the role of Zuzu Bailey in the holiday film It's a Wonderful Life (1946). Her childhood film career spanned 16 movies, but she is best remembered for playing the daughter of George and Mary Bailey (James Stewart and Donna Reed). Here is another great locally owned small business that, not only does fantastic work but, they also in our community! Drew and his team at Electrical LLC are always quick to respond and they take care of ALL our electrical needs! Our friend Eduardo installed a new warehouse exhaust fan for us, and Horizon was here this morning to get that thing running; what a difference it makes!! Give Horizon a call when you need an electrical contractor.

Luke & Joseph handed out over 400 chilled bottles of water today along with 118 sandwiches and 150 bags of chips to people experiencing homelessness. While our ice machine has been down, we kept our bottled water in the walk-in cooler so it’s cool and refreshing for our guests! Thankfully as our day comes to a close, Cooling Equipment Specialist, LLC got our ice machine working and we should have plenty of ice for tomorrow. Thanks also to Krewe Foundation, Diane Howell and Friends at the VFW Auxiliary Post #6872 Crowley for the sandwiches!

Apparently during ALL the heavy rains in May, our warehouse took on water we were unaware of….and while rotating our stock of beds this morning we discovered 20 mattresses and box springs had been ruined! Mostly twins but a few fulls and queen size too. It’s a sick feeling to see these headed to the dump. There are children, parents and Veteran’s who NEED these beds! Living Spaces has a team of volunteers here this morning serving people experiencing homelessness! They brought lots of prepackaged snacks and made blessing bags with personal hygiene products and new socks in them to hand out this morning.

Thank You Robert Howe, Lupe Mirella, Laura Kelly, all the artist and everyone that helped with the Hands WithHope Art Fest last week in support of WhenWeLove! Today they presented us with over $300 raised during the event.

Another $2,042 in vehicle repairs….that takes us to over $9,000 in the past 3 1/2 weeks! It makes it hard to pick up and deliver furniture, household goods and other necessities when our vehicles are down but it’s even harder on our finances when we have to cover these unexpected expenses! We are excited to share that WhenWeLove has partnered with Robert Craig Films to use the power of film to inspire action on behalf of the homeless crisis in our communities through the No Address Movement!

Robert Craig Films is releasing its feature film, "No Address," in theaters this fall and will additionally release a documentary, "Americans With No Address," a novelization of the screenplay, an interactive study guide, and a music album that will provide songs for the movie and radio distribution. Robert Craig Films has coined the phrase "The Big 5" to represent The Big 5 productions, and we are so excited to announce that we are a part of the Big 5 GIVEBACK!

The film is studded with Hollywood celebrities, such as William Baldwin, Ashanti, Xander Berkeley, Beverly D'Angelo, Lucas Jade Zumann, Patricia Velasquez, Isabella Ferreira, and Ty Pennington. ​"No Address" will vividly portray that homelessness could happen to anyone.

We ALL Play a Part in Ending Homelessness for our Brothers and Sisters on the Streets. Homelessness is NOT an issue for the Government to solve. While they should have a role in helping; this is OUR (You & I) responsibility as human beings! Whether you are a believer or not; we should ALL be able to agree on DOING the RIGHT thing! Homelessness does NOT discriminate, it can happen to anyone. We have to look past the stereotypes and bust the myths of homelessness....start listening and learning what people are experiencing on an individual basis, and build relationships that allow us to assist people in a way that effects real change. We have learned that giving people everything they say they need rarely changes their ability to leave homelessness. In fact, sometimes that enables them to stay where they are at. On the flip side; when you learn what a person really needs in order to make a change, and you have the ability to fill those specific needs while providing supportive services; you can almost always ensure a successful transition to ending their episode of homelessness. Together WE CAN Make a Difference!

We have partnered with the City of Fort Worth for the Heat Heroes for the Homeless Initiative and will be using our facility as a Cooling Station for people experiencing homelessness during the extreme warm weather months. We need volunteers to come help us staff the facility from 3-6pm Wed-Fri at our E. Lancaster Facility starting June 26th through August 30th 2024. You can sign up for as little or as many shifts as you like. We will be providing a safe place for people to get out of the heat with bottled water, snacks, restroom facilities and will need assistance monitoring and serving our guests.
