What is Safe and Sound Protocol?
a powerful innovative listening therapy designed to reduce hearing sensitivity and help regulate the nervous system, so you can better connect with yourself, others and the world around you.
The music of SSP has been specially filtered to highlight frequencies of sound that typically make us feel safe.
As humans we need social connection. Subconsciously, our nervous system is always looking for cues of safety from other people through things like body language, facial expression or tone of voice. โ
But if you have a harder time interpreting these cues of safety due to past experiences or the way you take in information, your brain and body can misinterpret these cues, limiting your ability to connect in a meaningful way.
Through the specially filtered music, the SSP sends cues of safety to your nervous system, building the foundation for awareness, embodiment and resilience.
SSP coupled with NSIF will expand your resilience to be fiercely independent. Stress can hold is in patterns of immobility and inability to move forward in our day. Through NSIF you begin to learn through your body cues and movement how to identify your stress states and how to easefully mobilize yourself out of debilitating stress into fluid easeful calm. For many of us we've maneuvered through life for so long we don't recognize these subtle cues until they become debilitating body pain, chronic illness, anxiety or removal from community.

Today in the Pilates Journey to Wellness class we started into the Principle of Centering. So we began with the feet. To be centered in standing we need a sting yet flexible base. Free of tension - with mobile bones and joints - the ability to feel the ground and any changes in surface - with the flexibility and strength to spring and recoil
As one of our Mentors Marie Joseโ would say โwhat is below so is aboveโ soo ok if our feet are tight - rigid - weak - immobile it moves up the chain
Today we began the work of our Core from the floor
This Month we've been exploring work with the Pilates Circle (aka the Ring of Fire๐ฅ) This jewel brings lot of intrigue and engagement into the movement routine.
It can be used to find engagement of those deep structural (core) muscles along with added strengthening.
Love to use it for stretching and strengthening the legs ๐ฆต๐ผ
Or maybe some inner or even outer thigh strength is calling that may elicit a tiny wow ๐ฒthe next day when realizing how underworked they may be.
For those liking a little curling abdominal work, it can help in supporting our head/neck while giving us the feedback to engage the elusive upper core ๐
How about sculpted arms to prepare for those short sleeve shirts? So many wonderful ways to work the arms.

How do you honor yourself regularly with self care and healthful movement? Do you make this regular time non negotiable and sacred? For many of us we struggle with the ability to pour into ourselves. Do you find yourself canceling or pushing to the side time for yourself. That time to go out for a walk, stretch, move, get outside, breath whatever helps you recharge and reset. How many times during the week do you find yourself putting this time off to stay in something that is causing stress and disregulation. Honor yourself this week by saying โYesโ to you and โNoโ to that which does not serve and depletes you.
As a wise person once told me โYou cannot pour from an empty cupโ so if we want to be our best selves we must honor ourselves with moments of non negotiable time.
Have a hard time shutting the world and too do@list out. Trying listening to music, nature, pray, breath, movement whatever is positive and helps you take care of you

This prop may seem hohum but it is everything but. Many of our clients find it a supportive yet challenging item for class, yet also a wonderful travel companion. It can be totally deflated and put into your overnight bag. Us it to site on to release the hips and low back, support for the low back, support and movement for the head and neck just to name a few. It can create fun balance challenge, awareness to misalignment, fun way to move the pelvis creating balance challenge and deep core work. Back support, release and strengthening. This little squishy wonder is a powerhouse.

Last weeks class explored Happy Healthy Hips
With release + stretch + strengthening
I have always felt there is a reason for everything we experience in our life. Our lives prepare us for future events and more importantly, teach us ways we can help others as they traverse similar peaks and valleys. My early life was full of injuries from running that left me with pain and significant imbalances in my body. Years in the corporate world filled with stress, lots of sitting, and long drives resulted in back pain and numbness down my legs. Experiencing one of my grandparents become immobile, needing help from a family member to do every daily activity, bound to a chair with no independence and no independent movement. Seeing this, I was determined to never let the same thing happen to meโฆunless it was completely out of my control. I can now identify that workplace tension, office place drama, sitting hu**ed over for hours and not having the tools to reduce stress wreaked the most havoc on my body and overall well being. I had always been active but also a member of the โno pain no gainโ club. Good grief, what the heck was I thinking? I now know that that mentality alone was responsible for so many imbalances, major nervous system dysregulation and all kinds of dis-ease that eventually turned into immense daily pain. My first awakening to change was finding Pilates. Of all the exercises I had done over the years Pilates helped me make the deep structural changes I was most in need of: That numbness and pain down my leg disappeared within the first two weeks; my posture improved and I found what I was learning in the studio went with me into everyday life; when stressed I would look to my breath along with a heightened sense of bad body mechanics.
A number of years later I discovered how aromatherapy could help me with relaxation, alertness, clarity and even body pain due to how stress creates tension and thus Pain. Yet, there was still something missing until learning Nervous System Integrated movement, I was then able to identify causes of stress and my body's warning signs, then apply specific breath and movements to help myself regulate creating calm resilience and diminishing the debilitating effects of tension and paralyzation of thought.

Being able to use my own life experiences and partnering with others to support them on their journey is one of the most rewarding and humbling gifts Iโve ever received. I LOVE teaching others how to use movement and Nervous System Integration (NSI) to move beyond the roadblocks life throws, and discover that they can take control of their state of well being and optimize how it affects the results they are able to achieve.
By harnessing NSI we learn to identify the causes of stress and the body's warning signs. This allows us to regulate ourselves and create calm resilience diminishing the debilitating effect of tension and paralyzation of thought.
With the enhancement of the NS we can then create deeper wells of nourishing, life altering movement, enabling our ability to make deep structural changes that improve balance and overall strength. YOU are your own first-person expert of your body and how it moves and thrives. YOU have the capacity to remove the barriers to a healthy body, whether from a life of injury or simply from age, and to do so with grace and ease. And Iโm here to guide you on the journey to that potential.

You can call me an educator or instructor but I feel most truly like a partner, a listener and encourager of your independence. I am a motivator and facilitator of your best self. I have always believed you canโt ask others to do things you canโt do yourself.
My purpose is to walk alongside my students and inspire a sense of empowered independence. As you learn the ability to tune in and access your body and its state of being you create safe, easeful freeing movement. With heightened body awareness, and optimized healthy balanced movement youโll find deeper wells of strength and flexibility, both in body and mind, that make YOU your biggest heroine and me your faithful guide.
