It's been hot, and the forecast doesn't seem to give us much reprieve in the coming weeks. For those who need a safe place to cool down on weekend days when other shelters are closed, don't forget that HHS has a Cooling Center open from 9AM through 6:30PM at the Community Table at 100 South Market Street.

Our Community Development Block Grant program is supporting the renovations underway at the Carver Community Center, and we can't wait to see the finished space. This community center will be home to a childcare area, computer lab space, meeting and programming space, and a new playground! On Friday, Dec. 8, 2023, the Frederick Police Department will assist with road closures for the annual Kris Kringle Parade in downtown Frederick. Drivers and residents are advised to plan accordingly as there will be significant traffic delays.
Please take a careful look at the release below, which includes a list of the closures and parking restrictions. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area until 9:00 p.m. If you plan to attend the parade, please utilize the downtown garages. We'll see you tomorrow!
