This past week we were inspired by our Moms! Acrylic backgrounds with watercolor pop outs! Happy Mothers Day to all you AMAZING beautiful Mothers!

L🌸VE these oversized ACRYLIC painted flowers! We decided they’d go great at our upcoming ART showcase with some oil pastel birds we did last week (that Miss Kia forgot to share with everyone)🌺Our Art Lab 559 showcase date has been changed to Friday May 24 5-8pm The kids had a great time painting these (on cardboard, cut out with electric scissors-my favorite Art tool ever!)🌹🌷🌸🌼🌻

This past week we wrapped up our studies of grid drawing with these SELF PORTRAITS, ages 6-12. Our young Artists rose to challenge! Focusing on SHAPE & VALUE (where is it white, gray & black?). So stoked on this week’s ALL ABOUT ART class ! Grid drawing & CHARCOAL was our focus and these young Artists rocked it! Learning to see shapes of value to create realistic Art. Next week we will draw self portraits using charcoal again. They were so proud of their drawings🤗Learning new skills & Art techniques is really exciting & empowering!

This week was all about TRANSFORMATION🎨We took old paintings from past Paint Parties and classes and transformed them. Love the imagination and ideas running wild, these young Artists are Amazing! The first three photos show how the original (2nd pic) have changed.

What happens when you give these young Artists a piece of cardboard and the cone part of an egg carton? The room was a buzz of possibilities and figuring out how to make their ideas come to life, LOVE it!

Our School Holiday paint session was a blast and oh soooooo cute! Which Doggie is your favorite?

Today we learned about BALANCE, Radial Balance to be exact! We created these beautiful Mandalas💗It was the most QUIET class ever, these young Artists were focused and the Mandalas had a calming effect on us all😌

Enjoyed a Friday night Paint Session with Cathy & her beautiful friends! All of your paintings turned out fantastic!

This week our focus was CONTRAST, one of the Principles of Design. We also practiced our acrylic painting skills with these beautiful Day/Night redwood treetop paintings.

Wow, this is FUN! We are exploring painting whatever we want, however we want! Inspired by Van Gogh’s Starry Night this amazing painting has been created by one talented, smart as a whip, amazing young Artist!

Introduced our young Central CA Artists to René Magritte this week. A surrealist painter from Belgium. This piece “The Son of Man”, one of Magritte’s most well know paintings was an example of EMPHASIS. Our next Principle of Design we are learning about🍏

Last week we explored MOVEMENT and created these fantastic pieces using a technique called AFTER IMAGE. Fun to personalize them with movement photos of the kids themselves! They got lots of cutting practice as well✂️✂️✂️

Excited that our Spring 2024 ALL ABOUT ART classes start tomorrow ! There are just a couple of spots left for the AfterSchool class & about 6 spots left for the Homeschool class. Our focus this session are the 7 Principles of Design, tomorrow we explore MOVEMENT!
