The Arte Workshop Series is back July 14th from 1-3pm! Discover the basics of creating your own handmade paper. We’ll show you simple papermaking techniques using recycled materials like junk mail, an ordinary kitchen blender, and affordable ways to make your mould and deckles. You’ll be able to create papers you can use for a variety of arts and crafts processes and learn ways to practice this art form at home! 📜📖

There is a $15 materials fee and Registration is required. Registration link on our stories and in our linktree.  Limited seats available!

Two of our amazing Education Department Interns and our star volunteer Gallery Educator will be graduating from Fresno State this week and we couldn't be more proud and excited for them! A big shout out to: Kassandra Castillo, who will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Minor in Anthropology! Nancy Ramos, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry with a Double Major in Chicano Studies! and last but not least, Natalia Vasquez, who will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in English/Literature and a minor in Chicano/Latino studies, as the Student of Distinction for the English Department and 2024 Dean’s Medal Nominee!

We are more than sure that your academic achievements, radical joy, strategic thinking, and extraordinary work ethic, will lead to successful professional careers!!

🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️Arte’s first running event was inspired by Yolanda Lopez’s series, ¿A Donde Vas Chicana? Getting through College, 1977, which is on view at Arte until May 18, 2024. For López, running was a “revelation” that allowed her to embrace self-care and physical training as a feminist act. It was a means of survival at a predominantly white institution.

🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️ La primera carrera de Arte se inspiró en la serie de Yolanda López, ¿A Donde Vas Chicana? Sobreviviendo la universidad, 1977, que se podrá ver en Arte Américas hasta el 18 de mayo, 2024. Para López, correr fue una “revelación” que le permitía adoptar el auto-cuidado y el entrenamiento físico como un acto feminista. Era un medio de sobrevivencia en una institución predominantemente blanca.

Join us at the upcoming Community Immigration Forum on Tuesday, April 2nd from 6pm-8pm. Local immigrants from a variety of backgrounds will discuss their personal experiences as they relate to the ideas presented in Jose Antonio Vargas’ book Dear America: Notes of an Undocumented Citizen. This event is being hosted in partnership with Fresno City College and Arte Américas before Jose Antonio Vargas visits Fresno City College on April 10th at 11:00 AM.  Please make plans to attend both events and learn more about how immigration impacts our community.

We will be taking a tour of Yolanda López Portrait of the Artist then taking a run (or walk, there’s no rush!) in downtown Fresno to see some iconic murals with . Starting at 3pm we will be doing yoga in the Plaza led by Metztli yoga.
