Group therapy is an effective way to help individuals who identify as neurodiverse. Our staff have training and experience leading groups and have found groups to be an empowering experience for clients. Some of the specific benefits of participating in group therapy include:
• Being in a setting where you feel like you belong
• Feeling relieved that you’re not alone in your struggles
• Learning to overcome these challenges by gaining strategies to help with:
> Developing coping skills for when you’re feeling overstimulated
> Building social/communication understanding and skills
> Adapting to change in routines and transitions
> Improving self-advocacy skills and working on how to get your needs met
> Managing sensory sensitivities
> Improving organizational skills
> Goal setting
The group will begin 7/22/2023 and be held Tuesday evenings at 6 pm.
If this group sounds like a good fit for you or your teen, please feel free to reach out to us at 559-574-3002.

New Years is just around the corner and with it often come . Often, long term goals may seem almost impossible to achieve so we end up giving up or not bothering to make goals for the new year.
We can reframe our goals a little by thinking about how we can level up today. What can we do today that will take us one step closer to where we want to be? This can be done with long and short term goals.
How can you level up today?
Role Playing Games or RPGs are very flexible games that can be used in the therapy session. We have created a few groups in which we use RPG to help children and adolescents learn and practice skills that will aid them in their journey to adulthood.
Pokemon Snap has a cool feature that allows you to take pictures and take a break from playing to center yourself.
Which scene would you prefer to visit during a vacation?
Longstanding beliefs (like children need to be punished to learn hard life lessons) don't stand up to modern research on child development and resilience. This tells us that Relationships of safety and trust build hardiness when children suffer.
This a gentle reminder to allow yourself to rest and take care of your mental health.
I will give you a hint!. For this group therapy, you will need dice, a notebook, and be willing to try something new!

ADHD may present different in girls than boys. This is one of the reasons why girls are either misdiagnosed or never diagnosed.
While it may be possible for girls to be extremely successful without being diagnosed. A diagnosis can help us understand ourselves.
When was the last time you went exploring? Where did you go?

Neurodivergent people often mask their symptoms to fit in with the rest of society. It can be difficult to unmask in front of others because we may have spent so much time hiding.
It is important to find a group of people where you feel safe being yourself. Some people have been masking for so long that they no longer know how to be themselves.
NBH can help. We offer various services to help parents and neurodivergent adults feel comfortable being themselves.
Have you found a place or a group of people where you to be yourself?
Don’t forget to take deep breaths through the day to help clear your mind, and reduce anxiety, and increase focus.
