🔹 “The World According to Allee Willis” | Thursday, Sept. 19 at 6pm |

- Take one look at award-winning songwriter / artist Allee Willis and you see someone unafraid to be themselves. Dressed in a cacophony of prints and colors, her signature asymmetrical haircut and famed parties at her real-life Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, Allee didn’t waste any opportunity to tell you what she was about. But privately, Allee struggled with not fitting established gender and sexual norms.

She buried herself in her work, until true love manifested her ultimate masterpiece - self-acceptance. Allee began filming her life in 1950s Detroit and never stopped. This film is the realization of her wish that her “final art piece be someone putting together the trail I have left behind.” |

- Siblings Violeta and Eva live in California with their mother, but every summer they travel to Las Cruces, New Mexico, to spend time with their loving but unpredictable father, Vicente (René “Residente” Pérez Joglar). Over the course of four formative summers that span adolescence to early adulthood, Violeta and Eva learn to appreciate their father as a person, his flaws and limitations inseparable from his passion and tenderness. Lovers come and go, the backyard goes to seed, but the idea of home remains knotty and elusive.

This powerful and deeply personal directorial debut from Alessandra Lacorazza offers a nuanced study of young people questioning their place within their families, their communities, and their identities. Winner of the US Dramatic Grand Jury Prize at Sundance, In The Summers proves both an emotional capsule of growing up within a fragmented family and a love letter to the resilience needed to survive. |

Today we remember our friend (and brother) Michael Reyna and his service to the Fresno Reel Pride Board of Directors. ​​​​​​​​​

Michael was one of Reel Pride’s longest serving board member and volunteer. Michael has the distinction of bringing Reel Pride onto the Fresno Economic Opportunities Commission Board of Commissioners, a first for any LGBTQ nonprofit in Fresno. Additionally, he served on other nonprofit boards throughout Fresno and established many relationships throughout the community.

If you didn’t know him personally, you would surely remember him as a bar manager, who was often behind the bar at places like Club Legends, Alibi, or Score. Michael was like no other. He was an animal lover who gave his time and finances to rescue organizations, he was always proud to serve his community in multiple capacities, but most importantly, he was a friend to many, and family to members of this board.

Thank you Michael Reyna for love and beautiful chaos you brought to us all.
