Friday Night learning.
May is Skin Cancer Awareness month! This is a reminder to get your skin check scheduled soon. I am seeing patients in Southlake and Arlington for skin cancer checks and other dermatological concerns.
Lovely lips to start the weekend!!!!
✨👄Lips 👄✨Here we use Hyaluronic acid gel to plump up and define our patient’s lips. The “results” photo is immediately after injecting and applying Aquaphor to the lips. The lips will settle over the next two weeks. Stay tuned for final results!
Vehicles matter when it comes to skin care products. We often prescribe according to the needs of the patient. A common adage in dermatology is, “If it’s dry, wet it. If it’s wet, dry it.”
Ointments and creams are heavier and very useful on dry skin or broken skin barriers. Lotions and gels are lighter and better for areas that do not need as much occlusion or require increased spreadability (such as hair bearing areas).

Dermatosis papulosa nigra (aka “DPN’s”) are benign skin bumps, commonly found on the face and neck. They appear in young adulthood and often become more plentiful over time. They are harmless and do not warrant treatment. Removal is elective and one method is electrocautery, as depicted in this video. We used a low setting to reduce the risk of pigment changes at the site. The lesions are melted with the hyfrecator and will fall off over the next few days. Patients are advised to practice consistent use of sunscreen post treatment. It is a simple and low pain procedure. Here we used topical numbing cream prior to lidocaine injections to maximize our patient’s comfort.
If you have new or changing bumps on your skin, it’s always best to have them evaluated. We are here if you need us!

Acne medicine application tips!
Pro tip: don’t rub your skin as aggressively as I do in this video. That’s my nervous energy at play (I prefer to be behind the camera and not in front 🤪)

Winter Skin Care!!!
Winter can be rough on the skin…cold, dry air can rob our skin of its moisture and lead to discomforts such as dryness and itching. If you’re in need of help, listen to these tips and come and see me for treatment if needed.
As a Derm PA, I deal with patients suffering with hair loss often. As a mom of four, I had telogen effluvium with 3 of my pregnancies during the postpartum time. This article has palatable info about hair loss and worth the read.
“For several reasons, many people don’t get much straightforward information on any type of hair loss, Telogen Effluvium (TE) and beyond. For one, hair loss doesn’t really lend itself to the format of the modern American doctor appointment. Finding the right diagnosis can be a detailed, time-intensive process. “You cannot do everything for a hair-loss patient in a 15-minute visit,” Senna said, and that’s all the time many doctors get to have with their patients. Seeing a dermatologist who specializes in hair loss, she said, is more likely to get patients a visit of at least 30 to 45 minutes and a more detailed, empathetic evaluation—if a patient can figure out to go to such a dermatologist in the first place.
Moreover, hair loss typically isn’t a particularly urgent problem for practitioners who may have many other types of health concerns coming into their office. Most hair loss that isn’t triggered by some kind of trauma is caused by androgenic alopecia, or AGA, often known as male or female pattern hair loss. It’s passed on genetically and has no cure, although some safe treatments are widely available. Doctors busy with other things may shrug their shoulders at patients who have incurable conditions that aren’t physically dangerous or painful. And for panicking patients who hear “Wait it out” or “Buy some Rogaine,” that recommendation may feel dismissive or inadequate, even if it is correct.”
The Year America’s Hair Fell Out The pandemic has been a near-perfect mass hair-loss event.
I sat in my car and my mileage was exactly at 100K. It needed to be commemorated.
I’m a little late in posting these before and after photos of another Beauty. This is after treating the forehead and glabella along with a subtle eyebrow tail lift at the two week follow up. Neuromodulators (Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, and Juveau) help relax muscles to prevent excess movements which cause wrinkles on the skin. Can you guess the age of this patient?
Another lovely improvement. Here I treated crows feet, forehead, glabella (“11’s”) with Xeomin
Hi!!! I am a Dermatology Physician Assistant, licensed in the State of Texas to evaluate and treat patients with skin disease. I have ten years of Dermatology experience and can help you overcome acne, control eczema or psoriasis, examine your body for skin cancers, and take care of your skin overall.
My approach is to treat the patient based on their diagnosis, their timeframes, ability and willingness to treat, and my plans are custom to each patient's individual needs and lifestyle.
I'd love the opportunity to work with you and help you achieve your health goals!
Lately I’ve been seeing an uptick in patients presenting with breakouts on their face. The majority are acne, rosacea, and Perioral dermatitis (POD). These photos show my own flare with “POD.” This rash can actually be present around the eyes, nose, and/or mouth. There are many triggers for this including new personal products such as cleansers and toothpastes, steroid cream or spray use (overuse), and can be associated with bacterial or fungal infections, acne and rosacea. The exact cause is unknown but various treatments exist to help reduce a flare. Swipe left to see my progress after one week of treatment. Typical results may take 6-12 weeks to resolve while on treatment. Call to schedule an appointment if you find yourself fighting a new rash.
