Thank you to our 5th grade Cafeteria Clean-up helpers! They volunteered all year to help Ms. Elianna clean-up the Cafeteria after their last lunch of the day!

We are so proud of our 3rd grade entrepreneurs at their Economics Fair this week!

We want to Congratulate the first recipient of the Armetha Norris Scholarship, Safiyyah Shaik! Safiyyah is a graduating senior from Independence High School who will be majoring in Nursing for her college education. She also attended Norris Elementary in 4th & 5th grade.

The scholarship is named after our school's namesake, Armetha Norris, who started the school nursing program in Frisco ISD. Her family was here to announce the scholarship on Friday.

We are grateful for the opportunity to work with your children each and every day! The Norris Staff Member of the Month is Kindergarten Teacher, Michaela Gray! Ms. Gray was nominated for exemplifying the Norris commitment of being a representative of the Norris legacy by maintaining a growth mindset and positive outlook of myself & others.

The staff member who nominated Ms. Gray said the following: Michaela goes above and beyond to make sure everything is ready and supportive for her students. She is kind to all staff members and is passionate about being at Norris! We are lucky to have her here!

We were so excited to welcome back the 2024 High School graduates that attended Norris! These students were our 4th graders when Norris opened in 2015. Congratulations to all of you and best of luck in your next chapter!!

Congratulations to our Staff Member of the Month, Priyanka Kotti! Mrs. "K", as the students call her, is the Resource Paraprofessional at Norris. She has also been in our SLC classrooms. This is Priyanka's 1st year at Norris and we are so blessed to have her! Priyanka was nominated for exemplifying the Norris commitment of fostering relationships and maintaining a growth mindset and positive outlook.

The people who nominated Mrs. K said the following: Ms. Priyanka comes to school every day with a smile. She is so patient & kind to everyone she works with. She has such a positive attitude and helps our school, teachers and students tremendously! I have watched Priyanka since she joined the resource team, and noticed she is just so calm with a growth and positive mindset. Her schedule has changed many times but she accepts all responsibilities with the challenges that come with it. She is one of the wonderful things that happened to us this year. Priyanka, we are lucky to have you here. Thank you for all that you do to support us and our students!

We are pleased to announce that our Norris Staff Member of the Month is Amber Daugherty! This is Mrs. Daugherty's 2nd year teaching Math and Science in 3rd grade at Norris, and her 24th year in education. She taught in three other school districts: Ponder ISD, Ardmore, Oklahoma, and Mansfield ISD. Mrs. Daugherty graduated from the University of North Texas in May 2000.

Mrs. Daugherty was nominated for exemplifying the Norris commitment of strengthening relationships that leads to greater understanfing of the greater community and that fosters the ability to collaborate with others. The person that nominated Mrs. Daugherty said the following: "You are such a great teammate. You are always willing to share your ideas and help us all be successful teachers for our students. Thanks for collaborating and creating fun lessons for all students!"

Why did you choose to volunteer with Norris PTA?...I had become friends with some moms as we waited out front for our kids. It turns out most of them were volunteering with the PTA. I heard there was a need for volunteers and I started helping out with Tuesday folders and Popcorn Friday.

What is one of the best things about volunteering in the Norris PTA?...You are having a positive impact on your child's education! Plus, the students are so excited to see parents on campus!
