It is with great respect and well-wishes that we say goodbye to Jewel Peterson, a valued colleague and bk employee that has recently retired -- again! Jewel had previously retired from Frito-Lay and we were fortunate to lure her to work for bk for the past 5 years. Her contributions, work ethic and incredible kindness will be missed and never replaced.
Jewel and her husband, Duane, are moving to be closer to her four wonderful grandchildren. Jewel will be missed dearly by everyone in the bk family and we wish her well in this next chapter of her life.

DISD Middle School, Thomas C. Marsh Preparatory Academy, created a novel study unit that is adaptable whether they’re held through in-person or virtual classes. Currently, students are responsible for providing their own copy of Buried Onions by Gary Soto. It has come to the attention of some that many students will be unable to supply their own material. English Language Arts teachers, Katie Brown and Emma Raleigh have taken it upon themselves to create donation pages in order to provide the novel for their 170 collective students. Our goal is to invite the community to support the students and ensure they get to actively participate in their education.
