I took some much needed time off from work and building rods to spend the last 2 weeks in Alaska with .sisler and my family. To say we had a great time would be an understatement! Lots of fishing, Kayla's first of many salmon and so many beautiful sights around every corner! Can't wait to go back.

I built this for my dad so that he was able to take a fishing rod on his motorcycle while riding from Utah to Alaska and back. There are going to be way too many beautiful streams along this journey to pass up without fishing them. This Phenix Redeye Ultralight 8' 1-6lb 4 piece Travel blank was chosen for this build because of how small it packs down- and it does so without sacrificing any action or sensitivity. Paired with Seaguide Titanium guides and Octacarbon reel seat, this rod weighs less than 4oz and fits into a tube just over 24" long making it easy to bring anywhere you might want to take it.

This 7wt spey blank works great in a Centerpin configuration for anglers who prefer a faster action than what is normally available in a Centerpin specific blank. The faster action spey blank has a forgiving tip with a powerful backbone- perfect for targeting big steelhead.

Finally had a chance to get out after some trout this morning and found some nice browns. I built this rod last year for throwing lures for trout but I love it so much I use it for everything I can. It's a P-700 X-Ray 7' 2-6lb blank with Titanium Frame RS ring Seaguides, a carbon fiber Seaguide reel seat and custom cork split grip. Paired with a Kage 2000lt it's the perfect combo for trout, river smallmouth and even walleye.
