LifeQuest Organ Recovery Services
Honoring life through organ donation since 1966. We are a nonprofit division of UF Health Shands Hospital. Visit www.DonateLifeFlorida.org.
We are a non-profit organization serving Floridaโs donation and transplantation community. We help those in need of life-saving transplants. It is the individuals in need who motivate us and the selfless donors who humble us. LifeQuest is a founding member of Donate Life Florida, a state-wide alliance of organ, tissue and eye recovery programs and other organizations interested in encouraging life-saving donation and increasing donor designations.
The eight organs that can be donated are the liver, two kidneys, heart, two lungs, pancreas and small intestines. ๐๐
National Multiethnic Donor Awareness Month raises awareness and celebrates organ donation and transplantation in communities of color. It encourages donor registration and promotes healthy living to decrease the need for transplantation.
August gives us a fresh start. A new month to make a difference in someone elseโs life. ๐ผ

Kevin Jacques' romantic proposal to Amanda Meyer was very different than how the Tallahassee coupleโs love story began two years earlier in the summer of 2017. Kevin, who was learning to live with primary sclerosing cholangitis or PSC, was up front with Amanda about his chronic liver disease. He told her that he would eventually need a liver transplant, but it would likely be years down the road.
โOn our first date, Kevin showed me his scar from his liver resection and told me he had an autoimmune disease,โ Amanda said. โAs the saying goes, itโs either a great experience or a great story.โ

We hope this message brings joy and happiness to your day. Itโs what Ryan Weir would have wanted. He spent nearly a quarter of his life serving the Jacksonville community at Maple Street Biscuit Company in Murray Hill. He loved his job, wearing silly socks and eating the restaurant's popular potato dish. His warm smile and rebellious spirit were infectious, so when the 19-year-old died after a car accident in June of 2019 and donated his organs, his mom, Kimberly, joined forces with the restaurant's founder to honor him in a fun and unforgettable way.
Maple Street Silly Socks reflect Ryanโs colorful, playful nature. For every $12 pair of Silly Socks sold by August 31, 2024, $5 will be donated to LifeQuest. Wear your silly socks to the Murray Hill location, and you will receive a free small portion of Potatoes OโRyan (named after Ryan).

HIGH-OCTANE OCTOGENARIAN | If you are looking for a reason to stay fit, Sid Riley is a motivating force. He refuses to accept the notion that life is for the young. When he fell ill and needed a liver transplant at the age of 75, his personal commitment to staying active tipped the scales in his favor. Sid received a liver transplant in 2015 at UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, and he is still going strong at 85. ๐ THIS IS HIS STORY: https://lifequestfla.org/high-octane-octogenarian/
