HEAT WARNING!!

Please keep an eye on animals in this heat. Sadly we lost Sara today. She was such a sweet chicken. One of The Avengers that joined us last year on the drive back from Mew Mexico.

She had been broody for many weeks which may have contributed to her reduced nutrition/ health to handle this heat. We have been dipping birds all week, frequently refreshing waters and providing frozen and cold treats.

The extreme heat continues here. We will miss Sara so much. So regal with the best posture. Feathered feet and an awkward run to snackie time❤️

Fly free Sara🙏

It’s always great to see adopted DIB alums living their best lives around the world. Thanks to the DIB family and adopters for being part of their happily ever after

To all of those who adopted from us please send me a picture of the dog you adopted from us. I love seeing those pics. It makes me feel so good to see them all living their lives as they should do. Here is a pic of the four pups.

Hello DIB followers! Suzie here, your newest DIB Admin/ fundraiser. I am doing a $500 match today. Hoping we can shoot it well past that! Jan and Carlos are struggling with vet bills. Please find it in your heart to donate ANY amount possible. You are all loved and appreciate it. ❤️❤️These are my babies. They want to mail purple balls to Brazil.

This poor little guy. Glad he is safe with Jan and Carlos. If you can help with his medical costs, it would be greatly appreciated.

Run free Sissy🙏🌈❤️ Thank you for the match offer. Please help meet the match to help more rescue dogs like Sissy

Hi Jan, I’d like to do a $250 match in memory of my Sissy. She was a rescue from our local shelter and was with us for 17 of her 19 years. Sissy was such a little fighter, she fought so hard, but the cancer won. My heart is still broken. I miss her so much. The donation match is a tribute to my little girl, to honor my Sissy’s memory. 🐾💗 (edited) Please donate in honor of Sissy who is sadly missed. Donate to [email protected] via paypal

The situation is Brazil is getting worse. Thank you for everyone tuning in, supporting and spreading awareness. Will see what the city says on the change to Jan and Carlos’ property tax. Hugs Trooper and to all the oldies.

Good Evening from Brazil. We have met Martin’s generous match thank you to Martin and all who contributed. I have been absent as Carlos hasn’t been well yesterday. He stayed in bed most of the day. He is exhausted and stressed. He has stomach pain as well. The bacteria he had before H. pylori could have come back as stress is a major cause of it. He is very stressed right now. We have the city hall coming here Monday to inspect the property and raise the taxes we pay. We assume there are no exceptions if they think a human could dwell in the kennels then they will be taxed even though they see the kennels are for dogs and no humans live in them. The tax is based on the height of the roofs. We will probably be taxed on them. Our kennels are big. Monday is D Day and we wait with baited breaths as to how hard this will affect us. They even put a tax on the swimming pool and probably the pool for the dogs. We now have this major worry on top of old the old dogs with problems. NGOs here don’t get exemptions or help from the government. Even Paypal Brazil doesn’t give us a break like NGOs in other countries.
Zeke isn’t well he is losing the use of his back legs. He is very, very, old. We have several dogs here with back legs going down at the moment. It’s sad to watch them struggle. Trooper and Joey are going down too. We are doing all we can, but we can’t beat old age. They are all on meds. Unfortunately the meds don’t last forever. We knew this year was gonna be bad. Now with city hall on our backs things will get worse. Our house tax will definitely rise. Hopefully donations rise, but that seems unlikely with the world situation. If you can donate we would be very grateful. Please donate via PayPal to [email protected] Thank you to all those that do.

Spring is here which means Nancy is collecting mulch and straw in her wispy fur. Hoping for more sunny days as rains continued from the storms.

Donations are desperately needed to help critical ones in Brazil.

It’s been unreal to be replacing the roof for the third time in about 7yrs. Today was probably the worst day for noise. Calming treats didn’t do much for Mina (hiding under the blanket). Between breaks outside during the warmer parts of the day and in a dark swaddle, the shaking anxiety subsided.

Tomorrow has more noise expected. Luckily Nancy is the calmest of the crew. And a win for short legs as she finally has taken to using the steps.

Run free Lenka🌈🙏❤️

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of Lenka who died early this morning. She was very old our vet knew her and her human since she was a puppy. She lived ten or eleven years with the same guy then one day his larger dog spontaneously attacked her. She had serious injuries. The guy who looked after her never did the aftercare after she was all stitched up and called us to take her away. She had bad infections all over her body. We took her in and she had been with us for two years. She had Parvo virus and was being treated for it. She couldn’t get over it and died this morning. She was at the clinic two days ago and doing okay, but suddenly went downhill. We will always remember and love dear sweet Lenka. She was a quiet calm girl. Her kennel mate Travis will miss her too. RIP Lenka. Please donate to [email protected] via paypal if you would like to help.

It’s Cat Week. Been traveling for work all week but glad to be back with the animals. Turtle is determined to get into the house. Mayla is enjoying the new workshop. The garage demolition starts next month. So much has to be repaired or replaced here. And Chip is enjoying life on the farm. We do have to tell him daily not to scare the birds. He doesn’t hurt them but he does like to startle them.

These are our rescued cats here. Please consider helping a cat in need or celebrating a cat in your life during cat week.

Built a droppings shelf today but didn’t have the right sized trays. So Coco missed the mark🤦🏻‍♀️
