Don't forget to register for our second session of the Fair Housing & Housing Development Series happening later THIS WEEK. Fair Housing & Housing Development Series: Nuts and Bolts of Law (Session 2) will be held on Friday, June 14 at 3:00 pm EDT via Zoom.

As communities across Michigan seek to address significant housing shortages, it is more important than ever to keep equity and fair housing in mind. Session 2 will dive deeper into fair housing laws and provide more technical information on planning, zoning, and land use from a fair housing perspective, including reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities, as well as ways to address housing development with an equity lens specifically in Michigan. This session will feature Allan Lazo and Tyler Augst (MSU Extension).

The FHCWM is pleased to offer this series of free educational webinars addressing these essential and timely issues, thanks to generous grant support from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD).

Additionally, please save the dates for the upcoming sessions that will cover planning, zoning, and land use from a fair housing perspective in more detail, including affirmatively furthering fair housing, NIMBY/YIMBYism, and more. Sessions will be geared towards developers, government staff, elected/appointed officials, neighborhood and community groups, and all other stakeholders working on housing development; however, all are welcome. We will send out further information as registration opens for the following sessions.

Fair Housing & Housing Development Series (Session 3 & 4) will focus on how fair housing can be put into practice by different audiences, including zoning, planning, and government professionals, both elected and appointed. However, all are welcome to join. See dates below.
