Isaiah 41:10 says: So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

How the world measures beauty can easily become a powerful idol. When the enemy twists God's Truth into horrible lies, it can seem to overtake us at times. This is why running to the place where God outlines our identity is so important: his Word.

1 Peter 3:3-4 says, "Your beauty should not come from outward adornments, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight."

Peter has seen Jesus' miracles and recognizes his sinfulness in the light of Jesus' power and perfection, leaving him feeling unworthy of being in the Lord's presence. We, too, know we don't measure up, which can lead us to get stuck thinking we have to earn our way to God. This leaves us to focus on our pattern of failure rather than God's grace and faithfulness. God is the One who offers us life, forgiveness, and freedom through Jesus' life, death, and resurrection.

Maintaining friendships can look very different from season to season. It's important to hold onto friendships rooted in Christ even now that it's summer. God created us to be in community and fellowship with one another because we cannot do life alone. Hebrews 10:24-25 says, "Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
Let this be an encouragement for you and your friends as you navigate the busyness of this season.

"I volunteered with Woodfield Community Center (WCC) for two summers (serving safely in the summer of 2020 — pictured!). While volunteering, I've experienced so much love and acceptance. WCC is a place where all nationalities come together. The unseen barriers between different religions, languages, and traditions are explored and greeted with incredible peace and love. I encounter Jesus every week I'm there. You can see love flowing through each and every believer and non-believer at WCC.

If someone is on the fence about participating in WCC, I'd say: do it, listen to that inner nudge, and be prepared for your heart to be changed for the better while having the best summer and making many new friends."

In Romans 1, the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all the godlessness of people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. God’s justice brings order to chaos and the Apostle Paul makes it clear in the book of Romans that people who chase after their own desires will experience God's justice.

God hates sin because it separates us from him. Sin entered the world to kill, steal, and destroy, and we are helpless to overcome the wages of sin on our own. BUT, thankfully, God is compassionate. The Apostle John reminds us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). God is the perfect judge, but he is also merciful. He knows our weaknesses and provides a way back to righteousness.

What does it mean to be a humble servant? Our first takeaway from Ada Bible Church's God Is _____ series answers that question:

Jesus came as a selfless servant to give himself for our salvation. His example shows us how we are to live our lives and treat others. Paul instructs the church in Philippi to "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others" (Philippians 2:3-4).

In 2 Timothy 1:6, Paul reminds Timothy to use his spiritual gifts wholeheartedly for the Lord. Paul encourages him to stay loyal to the Gospel and be mindful of who and what influences him so that he can handle and teach God's Word effectively.

The Gospel needs to be the center of our lives and we must also be mindful of how easy it is for other things to take its place. Paul is reminding us to pay attention to the things we watch, the voices, and the music we listen to because we must also handle God's Word well since it is the foundation of the Good News we are to share with others.
