Nan Holt Smith started teaching 40 students in her hometown of Yadkinville, NC in 1975. She and her husband, Chuck Smith, established the 1st Greensboro studio in 1982. Nan’s oldest daughter, Jennifer Grinwis, grew up in the studio, started teaching after college, and has been director since 2002. Jon & Jen Grinwis now own the company. Nan’s School of Dance is a family business of providing a service for other families in our community. We operate our locations in Yadkinville, Greensboro, and Kernersville, North Carolina.
The objective for our studio is to provide top quality instruction at a competitive price. The objective for our students is to encourage technical proficiency in their area of interest, but more importantly to build self-discipline, poise, and self-esteem. From September through May, we offer quality instruction in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, pointe, hip hop, praise & worship, zumba, pound, drama, preschool and athletic training at all levels. Our studios are equipped with cushioned, floating floors, mirrors, and barres designed specifically for dance and to reduce injury. All classes are taught by qualified, adult instructors!
