Greensboro Ballet offices and studios will be closed this week in celebration of the July 4th holiday and for some much needed rest and relaxation for our staff. We hope all of our families have a wonderful holiday week and we look forward to opening again on Monday, July 8th.

Our first week of summer classes is complete and we enjoyed sharing our love of dance with this week’s students.

Our Advanced/Intermediate Half-Day Intensive dancers had a great time learning and growing in their training this week, especially with our guest faculty, Mary LeGere.

Thankful for alumna and dancer, Anna Coghill, for teaching our beautiful “Princess Children’s Workshop” students this week!

Congratulations to Marian Matos, recent graduate of Northwood High School in Pittsboro, NC. 🎓🎉

Marian has been dancing since very little, but has been dancing and training with the for the past few years. And what an incredible few years it has been!

Marian has loved performing a variety of roles, from the crazy Dr. Coppelius in our recent performance of a “Coppélia Suite,” to lead roles including the Lilac Fairy in “Sleeping Beauty” and the Butterfly in the Waltz of the Flowers from “The Nutcracker.”

We are so very proud of you Marian and wish you the absolute best in all of your future endeavors! 🧡

Can’t believe that Amanda Geddie-Garcia is all grown up and a high school graduate! 👩‍🎓 🎊

You can see in these photos Amanda as a very young summer camp student with Mrs Munda as her first instructor.

She has grown into a beautiful and talented dancer, performing many lead/soloist roles including as the Butterfly (lead in Waltz of the Flowers), the Snow Queen, and as Swanhilda in our recent production of “Coppélia Suite.”

Amanda will be attending this summer on a $500 scholarship and working as a Student Leader. She’s then headed to NC State in the fall to pursue her undergraduate degree.

Congratulations Amanda! We couldn’t be prouder of all you have accomplished and we wish you a bright & successful future! 🩰❤️🩰

Congratulations to senior Student Company member, Ellie Hogan, on her recent graduation from Greensboro College’s Middle College! 🎓🎉

Ellie started dance training when she was little and living in New York. She has been training at the School of Greensboro Ballet for many years now and during that time has performed several lead/soloist roles including Spanish/Matadoress and Snow Queen in “The Nutcracker,” the Cat alongside Puss N Boots in “Sleeping Beauty,”’ and more. She has truly excelled in her Contemporary dancing, as well.

We wish Ellie the very best in all of her future endeavors, especially as she heads off to the UK to study at the University of Chichester on a £5,000 scholarship!

We’re very proud of you, Ellie, and know that you will succeed in all you set out to achieve.

Greensboro Ballet is looking for talented young dancers (Ages 11-18) who have a passion for dance and are committed to their dance training.

Student Company dancers perform in our two large productions each year and are given numerous other opportunities to perform around the community.

We have a Zoom Informational Meeting on Saturday, June 1st from 4-5pm for those wanting to learn everything involved in being part of Greensboro Ballet’s Student Company.

Auditions will be held the next day in our School of studios: June 2nd, 1:30-4:00pm.

Did you know that age 7/8 is the ideal time to begin learning the art of classical ballet?

However, we know some children don’t show an interest in learning ballet until they are a bit older. With that in mind, during the months, the School of offers Beginning Ballet Workshops just for this age group: 7-10.

Our Children’s Dance students love when the older dancers come for a visit! This time as part of our Fun Week.

Madeline came in her “Fancy Nancy and the Mermaid Ballet” fish 🐟 costume and Lettie came in her “Coppélia Suite” friend 👩🏽‍🤝‍👩🏻costume.

Our youngest students also had the FN&TMB book read to them and had fun coloring a coloring sheet.

Guests of our upcoming “Tea with Fancy Nancy” event are encouraged to wear their “fanciest” dress or mermaid costume to this fun & delicious tea party! What outfit will you wear?

Characters from our new ballet, “Fancy Nancy and the Mermaid Ballet” will be at this tea, held on March 23 at 12:45pm in the Renaissance Room of the Carolina Theatre.

Funds raised from our tea events help the Ballet in the creation of new costumes and tutus, which can cost around $250 or more per tutu!

There are several budget-friendly options you need to be aware of when registering for any of our Summer intensives, workshops, or classes.

1. Register by May 1st to save 50% on your registration fee.

2. When you register, you will be invoiced for half of the summer tuition owed as a non-refundable deposit. The other half will be processed one week before your child’s classes, etc. begins.

Through it’s “Bringing Books to Life Through Dance” outreach programming, Greensboro Ballet is pleased to bring to the stage “Fancy Nancy and the Mermaid Ballet” as part of it’s March 22nd at the historic Carolina Theatre.

This program is made possible through a generous grant from the Tannenbaum-Sternberger Foundation.

It is open to all local and regional schools including: public, private, and home schools. Tickets are for Title-1 schools and for NC Pre-K students, as well.
