Hey GBA, Our Revitalize Conference is just over a month away. Two of the leading experts on Church health in the world will be with us, Mark Hallock and Mark Clifton. We have some great breakout sessions. It all starts with dinner for pastors/staff with Hallock and Clifton on Friday evening at 6:00. Many churches are struggling, plateaued, or declining and need help to experience new life. Nationally known speakers Mark Clifton, and Mark Hallock, and a group of church revitalization practitioners will bring their expertise and experiences to help such churches. This conference is for pastors and lay leaders of churches.

This event will kick off Friday, January 26 with dinner starting at 6:00 p.m. A round table discussion with Mark Hallock and Mark Clifton will follow dinner.

We will begin Saturday, January 27 at 8:00 a.m. with breakfast and fellowship. Several sessions and breakout topics will be provided Saturday until 11:45 a.m.

Over the past 8 years, we have planted 14 churches. Roughly 350,000 people in Greenville County are not connected to any church. Plus, we are poised to gain over 200,000 people in the next 20 years. Our current churches cannot accommodate them all! Pray for our church planting efforts as we strive to create access to the gospel among the rapidly growing and diverse population. Pray God will raise up church planters to meet this need.

Greenville Baptist Association had our 163rd annual meeting today at West End Baptist Church. It was a picture of what is best about Southern Baptists, our cooperative work, fellowship, and partnership for the gospel. We honored Dan Messer, who is retiring for the second time after 18 years of faithful service as Director of Hispanic Ministries. Stepping into this role as Reaching Hispanic People Strategist is Arnaldo ArnaldoShellie Silva, currently pastor of Refugio Church in our association. We also approved a new full time position of Reaching the Unreached Strategist, passed a new budget, elected William Dallas Wilson as our new Moderator, and welcomed Christ Fellowship Eastside to GBA. We heard reports about some of the work we have done together this year and the exciting new initiatives coming in 2024. It is clear that God is at work here in Greenville as we create access to the gospel for all starting here! Thanks to Tim Keagy for moderating the meeting in the absence of moderator Will Broadus. Thanks to Marty Price of West End Baptist for hosting us. Thanks to our fine staff for all they do to help mobilize us to do the mission! I’m so excited about the opportunities before!

The largest ethnic group in Greenville County is our Hispanic population. GBA has 10 Hispanic churches/ministries. Pray for our Hispanic pastor and other leaders as they intentionally create access to the gospel in ways that effectively communicate Christ's love in their heart languages. Pray God would provide language pastors to help meet the spiritual needs of our ever-growing and ethnically diverse communities.

Last night the GBA sponsored a Ministry Wives Dinner at the Poinsett Club in downtown Greenville! We are thrilled that 44 women from 23 GBA churches enjoyed a delicious meal together in a gorgeous setting. But, more importantly, we praise God for the friendships that were strengthened and hearts that were encouraged. Thank you to the GBA for investing in our ministry wives!
