You may wonder, "What is Maundy Thursday?" Maundy is from a latin word meaning 'command". It is a day to commemorate The Last Supper, where Jesus told his followers - "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” John 13:34.
Join us this evening at 6:00PM for a reading of the Passion Gospel, communion and a time of food and fellowship.

The March Healing service is March 19th at 4:00PM. Healing is about so much more than just relief from a physical sickness or ailment. Healing can be psychological, emotional, spiritual…it is the experience of the restoration of wholeness that comes to us through God’s grace and often the support of community. Healing isn’t always instantaneous. Sometimes healing is a journey to wholeness that can take some time and be full of twists and turns. Perhaps coming to the service on March 19th might be a first step. Please join us for a time of music, prayers, reflection, anointing, and communion. The intention or focus for this month’s service is bereavement and grief.
Join us this Sunday at 11AM - the 2nd Sunday of Lent - as we talk about "Is Faith Enough?" We'd love to have you join us!
A PRAYER FOR ASH WEDNESDAY:
We forget sometimes that ashes come from fire, that this soft black powder was once a firm green frond, bright and vibrant before it became dry and brittle, stiff and fibrous before a flame transformed it into dust.
Every living thing submits to change. Let's not fear it. From seed to plant, palm to ash, this bit of the earth smudged on our foreheads today was carried lovingly in the hand of the Creator.
What fires will we step into this Lent?
What new forms will our souls take when we encounter the holy blaze of the Living God?
We are - it is true - ash to ash and dust to dust, but whether in youth or in old age, in life or in death, let us be assured, we are held, and we are God's.
Amen.
Stop by our parking lot tomorrow, February 22nd - Ash Wednesday. We'll have "Ashes to Go" from 8-9AM and 5-6PM.
We’re offering ashes outside because that reminder of need, humility, and healing shouldn’t be confined to a church building. The ashes we receive here are to remind us throughout the day of our need for God and of God’s call to us. Visit www.fccgreenville.org for details.
Please note the NEW DATE for a special music program - February 26th at 5:00PM. Don't miss it - and bring a friend!
