More than 20 CAP cadets, as well as six senior members, completed or refreshed the first aid portion of their emergency service training on Saturday in the Greenville Composite Squadron headquarters. Erick Nason, who in addition to being commander of the Sumter Composite Squadron is also a qualified instructor in a wide variety of ES practices, including Red Cross First Aid, traveled to Greenville to teach the class. (As a civilian training course, this event allowed members to attend in casual civilian attire.)
The volunteer airmen of Civil Air Patrol's South Carolina Wing are actively supporting Joint Base Charleston on a United States Air Force (USAF) Mission. Civil Air Patrol members’ support of USAF during mishaps like these reinforces the Total Force Partnership between these organizations.
South Carolina Wing members with Air Crew Qualifications should indicate their availability to their Squadron Commander & Emergency Services Officer. Media inquiries about Civil Air Patrol involvement in this mission should be directed to Civil Air Patrol National Headquarters at Maxwell Air Force Base.
The public is asked to cooperate with military and civilian authorities as the effort continues.
If you have any information that would assist the recovery teams, please call the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Public Affairs Office at 252-466-3827.
