Music has a unique way of connecting us.

Through song and dance, many children can learn to focus on shared experiences, look to others for cues, and engage in joyful interactions. This strengthens their ability to connect with others in meaningful ways.

These moments of shared rhythm and movement are not just therapeutic—they’re the foundation for building lasting social bonds. 🌟

Play is both a natural component of childhood AND a helpful therapeutic tool for promoting opportunities to practice a variety of important skills! 💖

Through play, we can “work on”…
✅ Communication
✅ Social interaction
✅ Turn-taking
✅ Psychological flexibility
✅ Perspective-taking
✅ Conversation
…and so much more…all without it feeling like “work” 😄

Child-led opportunities can be so beneficial because it allows the child take charge of their learning.

By following the child's interests and strengths, and motivations, therapists create a supportive environment that boosts engagement and learning. 💛🌱

📸 Captured a truly special moment: two friends not only opting to spend their free time TOGETHER, but also to SHARE an activity! 💙

What may seem ordinary to some, can be ✨extraordinary✨ in the world of autism.

That said, can you imagine the good it would do for those other “ordinary” parts of the world to ALSO celebrate friends for finding joy and connection in each other's company? 🫶🌎

Our Story

Project HOPE Foundation’s mission is to serve individuals living with autism by: helping families, opening minds, promoting inclusion, and expanding potential.

Starting in 1997, we have served thousands of individuals. With the current rate of autism of 1 in 59 children, our services are more critical than ever. Project HOPE Foundation currently serves across ages, across the spectrum, and across services.

Through 9 programs, we provide information, workshops, education, therapy, social activities, life skills trainings, and vocational opportunities.

Leadership
Project HOPE Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization since 1997, continues to be led by its founders, Lisa Lane and Susan Sachs, both mothers of sons with autism. Lisa and Susan serve as co-Executive Directors of Project HOPE Foundation.

Project HOPE Foundation is fortunate to have an active, involved Board of Directors from across Upstate South Carolina.

Funding
Project HOPE Foundation is funded through fees-for-service (private pay, insurance, and PDD Waiver), fundraising events, grants, and donations.

We have 3 major fundraising events: the Evening of Hope Gala and Hope Invitation Golf Tournament in April and the HOPE Relay in November.

We are a funded agency through both the United Way of the Piedmont and the United Way of Greenville County.
