El Programa Hispano’s humble roots began in 1982 when a small group of outreach workers from Catholic Family Services, now Catholic Charities of Oregon, (CCO) conducted outreach to Latino migrant farmworkers in East Multnomah County. In 2015, with the support of CCO, El Programa became an independent 501(c)3 organization. Today, we serve more than 20,000 individuals annually in the areas of Econom

Last Thursday we held our second farm visit of the summer at Liepold Farms! Our team provided groceries, clothing donations, meals to families and fun activities to their children.
Thank you to mealsonus.pdx for providing meals, and all our resource fair partners including Medical Teams International, Providence Community Health Workers, Clackamas Public Health Division, Oregon Law Center, Community Development Corporation of Oregon, and Oregon Human Development Corporation. The connections you made with our community were meaningful and intentional, we are grateful for that.

This week we hosted our first farm visit of the season at Fujii Farms in Troutdale. Our farm visits take place in the summer months and bring culturally-specific resources to farmworkers including information on their rights as farmworkers, housing services, DV/SA support, and activities for their families and children. We also provide hygiene kits and offer free dental appointments.
Thank you to mealsonus.pdx for providing warm food to our volunteers & participants, and to Multnomah County Health Department for bringing their mobile health van to the event. We look forward to sharing more stories as we visit three more farms this summer!

Today leaders from our UNICA department delivered a presentation on “Reproductive Justice in the Context of Domestic Violence and Sexual Harassment” at the annual Familias en Acción Latino Health Equity Conference. We’re thankful to all those who joined us and walked away with new perspectives and ways to prevent abuse and better support survivors.

El Programa Hispano Católico (EPHC) continues to monitor the Covid-19 virus situation, and we are taking the necessary steps to prevent further spread of the disease and keep the community safe. Due to government and public health recommendations, EPHC office will be closed to the public from Tuesday March 17th, to April 6th, 2020.
