We have seen it first hand!!
Studies will tell you that mentorship mitigates drop-out rates and at-risk behavior. But even better, they have shown to give youth the tools to build better relationships with friends, family and parents. The social-emotional skills gained by mentorship help youth faced with bullying and build resilience. The ripple effect of well supported youth builds better futures for them and better supported families.

The next few Thursdays, we will be highlighting community needs and how Family of Friends Mentoring hopes to address those needs through our programs.
Did you know Oregon ranks last in youth mental health support?
According to major research findings, youth in mentorship programs that face mental health challenges have demonstrated meaningful positive impacts on their mental health symptoms and academic success.
We have seen the impact this first-hand in how our youth navigate bullying, parent separations, family loss and more. The stories speak for themselves. As Meadow put it, 'my mentor is like headlights on a dark road.'

Why exploration? We love to empower youth to discover the world and its many wonders through mentorship. Whether this is through STEM by sending youth to OMSI for a free day pass, or through nature exploration through hiking day events!
Some of our youth aren't afforded the privilege of outings like a day at the Cannon Beach and rock climbing but through mentoring relationships they unlock new passions through these exploration.

At this meeting, they will be collecting community feedback regarding housing, infrastructure, economic and community development needs to help establish priorities for the 2024-2025 CDBG & HOME Action Plans.

We partnered with in creating care bags for youth in their program from our mentees and mentors!
JoyRx is a mentorship program within the Children's Cancer Association that provides mentors with similar life experience to provide emotional support to children in treatment who endure the hardships of long hospital stays and difficult treatment days.
