Thanks, Valerie Iosue for this timely reminder!
April is Esophageal Cancer Awareness Month 💜Let's raise awareness and support those affected by this devastating disease.
Valerie lost her husband to this disease that in the United States affected an estimated 21,560 people who were diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2023, alone. Unfortunately, 16,120 individuals lost their lives to this disease, highlighting its relatively high death rate.
Valerie's daughter Nadia graces the cover of MetroKids magazine! Valerie was interviewed as a featured parent 💜 Valerie's husband passed away in 2019. He fought for nine months, but unfortunately, this aggressive cancer is often detected in its advanced stages. Her husband's battle with esophageal cancer was directly linked to years of untreated acid reflux, which is a risk factor for this cancer.
