🚨 Busting Myths on Soft Tissue Injury Recovery! 🚨
Forget the old RICE method—there's a better way to handle soft tissue injuries! More recent research has shown us that we can do better!
Protect: Limit movement for a few days to reduce bleeding and prevent further injury. But remember, too much rest is a no-no! Gradually reintroduce movement as pain allows.
Elevate: Keep that injured limb higher than your heart to help fluid flow out. The evidence may be slim, but it's a low-risk, high-reward move! *Let gravity be your friend and help get the excess swelling out of that limb.
Compression: using compression (such as a wrap or sleeve) increased the pressure outside of your blood vessels – helping the excesses swelling get pushed back into the blood vessels (and lymphatic system) so your body can take care of it.
Avoid Anti-inflammatories: Say no to anti-inflammatory meds and ice! They can interfere with the body's natural healing process. Embrace the inflammation—it is your body’s healing process and a crucial part of recovery!
Vascularization: Keep that heart pumping! Pain-free cardiovascular activity boosts blood flow to injured areas, speeds up healing, and lifts your spirits.
Optimal Loading: Introduce mechanical stress carefully to promote tissue repair. Get moving as soon as you can! Early, gentle exercise promotes repair and builds strength. Remember, it's all about finding that sweet spot between activity and pain.
