I use time alone in the car, taking a shower or doing mundane chores around the house to connect with God in prayer.

Don't forget to make time in your busy schedule to get alone with God!

What can you give up or add to your life that will help you draw closer to Him this Lenten season?

This past week I was listening to a podcast. Normally this particular podcast is on all things gardening and homesteading, but this particular one was a health update of the speaker. She spoke about how in the last year she had taken on so many new things and was feeling overwhelmed and even burnt out. After reevaluating, she decided it's time to step back or table some of these new adventures she began pursuing in the last year. Not that any of them were bad, but that there was no margin in her life. No open space.

The next day during my quiet time, I was reading Psalm 46, specifically verse 10, which says.. "Be still, and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

I decided to look up the Hebrew for "be still". It comes from the word rapha, which means. "To be weak, to let go, to release".

I drew a parallel to what the podcaster spoke about and this scripture. So many times we jump into things, or take things on in our own strength. Maybe we forget to pray about it. We didn't allow God to speak to us about what He has for us and we moved forward ready to conquer things, in our own strength.

Maybe this is where you are. Overwhelmed, burnt out, wondering how you got to this point. Asking yourself, when will you ever get a break.

I just wanted to encourage you that maybe it's time step back Release. Let go of the things that are holding you down. So many times we take on the expectations of those around us. We try to measure up to what people around us want or expect. We should not be serving man, but God.

Surrender it to the Lord. He already knows our weaknesses and struggles and is waiting for us to lay it down. He wants you to be still and wait on Him. You might even need to say no to some good things, because God has something better.

I encourage you to step out in faith, letting go, releasing to Him those things that you are holding onto but are weighing you down. I pray that you experience a fresh breath of healing from the Lord. A wave of His presence like never before. May you receive the rest and peace that is only found in Him. I pray that in your journey of faith, you will go deeper with Him and experience the depth and breadth of Gods love for you.

Many years ago, I felt the Lord speak to me about prayer.

How many times do we talk to people who are sick? Battling cancer or other illnesses?

What about those who have children who have strayed away from faith in which they were raised?

Maybe you have a friend who has an aging parent and is struggling to balance raising their own kids while caring for their sick parents.

I think we all do. But how many times do we tell our friend, co-worker, neighbor or acquaintance that we will pray for them, only to forget til days later.

I felt impressed that we should not just say, "I will pray for you" but to actually stop right there, in the moment and ask the person if I can pray for them.

So I challenge you this week, that when someone shares their struggles, pain or needs, don't just give them a pat reply of "I'll pray for you" but ask them if you can pray with them right then. This might mean you are bowing your head in the dairy aisle of the grocery store.

See how God can use you to touch the lives of those you encounter this coming week as you step out in faith, and maybe your comfort zone to pray for others.
