1999 - Owen Hart dies of cardiac arrest after falling from the ceiling in the Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri during the WWF Over The Edge Pay-per-view. The fall was not seen on television, as a pre-taped interview was being shown at the time. Owen was to have made a "Blue Blazer" entrance on a cable when his harness malfunctioned, causing the fall. Hart was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead. Owen was 34 years old.

1996 - One of the most infamous moments in the history of wrestling at Madison Square Garden (and at the time, a really controversial one) took place as The Kliq, Shawn Michaels, Razor Ramon, Diesel and Hunter Hearst Helmsley broke kayfabe following the main event of WWF's card in the Garden, which was also Kevin "Diesel" Nash and Scott "Razor Ramon" Hall's final contracted night before leaving for WCW. This was infamously coined, "The Curtain Call."

2002 - Davey Boy Smith passed away due to a heart attack while on vacation in British Columbia, Smith, a former WWF Intercontinental, Tag Team, European and Hardcore champion, was only 39 and at one point, was one of the biggest singles babyfaces in the world for WWF during the time period in the early 1990s when the company began touring the UK regularly.

1975 - Jake Roberts makes his pro wrestling debut.

1985 - The WWF's very first edition of Saturday Night's Main Event airs on NBC, scoring an 8.8 rating. This was the first time that a network aired wrestling in 34 years.
